Stephen (havan) I can see that the film makers were probably trying to be "artistic" with Twilight's opening scenes but I disliked them since they didn't really jive with the book.

We see a poor defenseless doe who's spooked in the woods and starts to flee only to be scooped up in the arms of a teenaged boy (back to camera). I always pictured the Cullens as being more efficient predators than that and SM makes it a point at several spots to mention how they tend to take the largest in the herd.

Not only did it not seem in keeping with the Cullens described techniques It didn't really resemble any of the Cullens did it?

Looked like Emmett to me but we need to ask the Emmitt expert Lindis as she can tell us for sure.

I really liked the opening! I thought it set the tone well for the movie. The image of the doe getting caught did not bother me because we're supposed to be scared of the Cullens at first - we don't really know anything about them, and setting up a traditionally scary image allows for a bigger shock when we learn about the "humanity," so to speak, of the Cullens. That's just my two cents, though.

I also like the opening. I think its perfect. Someone on another "Twilight" group posted her continuation of Breaking Dawn and I just tried to repost it here but then I feel its wrong to take someone else's work and continue it in this way. For this reason I won't read Scarlett or someone's continuation of Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier. I am struggling with this idea. Do you think its wrong too? I know we all want more but still.......

I think that doing so for profit while the author is still alive is wrong but after that, no.

I like fan fiction, as I've posted in another thread. There are many stories that can be told and provided you don't upset the author's plans and profits, why not?

I've also enjoyed a number of Sherlock Holmes stories that have been written by modern day authors.

I didn't realize that had happened with Sherlock Holmes stories also. Thanks for your feedback. I am still struggling with it but maybe should post that link for others? Its a continuation of Breaking Dawn. I don't think she is trying to make money on it but not sure.

So this type of thing is called fan fiction? I didn't realize that.

Stephen (havan) For an example of the Sherlock Homes thing check out The Seven-percent Solution The Seven-percent Solution Being a Reprint from the Reminiscences of John H. Watson, MD by Nicholas Meyer by Nicholas Meyer Holmes fans get a novel story about the bard of Baker Street and A Conan Doyle suffers not a whit. In fact when this novel was made into a movie, sales for the original books had a resurgance.

Yes, I heard Wuthering Heights had a resurgance as it was one of Bella's favorite books. Of course I heard this at Borders where they had a big sign next to the Twilight section with copies of it there.

So for that reason it can be good.

Wuthering Heights

Julia Wuthering Heights are really good, I enjoyed it.

I sure enjoyed it when I read it at age 16 but when I read it again a few years ago I got very upset as Heathcliff seemed too vicious to me. He took revenge on everyone around him and he seemed like a vampire to me walking the moors at night and other odd things.
Glad you liked it. My favorite Bronte novel is the Tenant of Wildfell Hall which is fairly unknown. My sister sent me a copy after she read it with her literature class in college.

Even tho they messed up some the music makes up for it. I associate the different songs with the different scenes now.
