My favorite from the crime stories is Robert Crais inscrewtable "Joe Pike." I've only read one Joe Pike Book. I have tons on my TBR. One's enough. He's given a close run for his money by "Jack Daniels" but Crais is a bit more polished than Konrath. Jack's may favorite female cop!
Even though he took a turn as the side kick in "Watchman." I liked the Elivs Cole character too. He and Joe fit together pretty well.
Yep. I can see why Crais decided he needed a title for Joe Pike. I haven't read the Elvis cole Books (it's on my to-do-list) but I bet Pike was so strong a character that sharing the spotlight would help the series.
Joe Pike's a lot like Lee Child's "Jack Reacher." Except Joe's a lot darker and Jack is more of a talker and better at reading people. Hard to compare that way though.

Monkey's rian coat. On my TBR. I also have the 3 Jack Reacher to read. I think I like Joe Pike (character) better than Jack Reacher. The second book in the Reacher series didn't strike my fancy.
I may shoot "Queen" in there on the urgent read buss though.
I've got some well recommended (not sure if their any good) crime stories with Female main characters on my kindle. Some of them look promisng.
Has anyone else red The Temple Dogs? That was a good story.

I've got a lot of 99 cent or free, 4+ star (amazon rating) books on my kindle. I'm wondering if one of them will pan out for me and become gold?
There are a lot of heroines in this Genre now than there used to be. Who's your favorite? (Why?)

Hugh, I'm looking for a good A/A book heroine. Most of the kickbutt heroines I love are in the urban fantasy genre.
You are making Joe Pike sound really good to me. I really like Jack Reacher, and if you like him more, he must be pretty cool!

Okay, I've another fun character to add to the pile of fun characters. Notice I say "fun" and not "hero"? Lets just say he's a little um...obsessed around the gills. Kent Harbinger from Plain Jane: Brunettes Beware. Kent's a profiler with the FBI but he's... um... lets just say he put the "U" in unorthodox.
The book is a chase the serial killer thing, and a little bit twisted romance thing, and a little bit, hey, who are the good guys again, cause I can't tell.
It's an Indie book, and a pleasant surprise. My days at the trough of free and 99 cent books from Amazon for the Kindle paid off.

I suspected the ending, but I let her (author) sucker me off with the "red herring." If you liked this, you'd probably like the Bowers Files (Pawn, Rook, etc).
I'm with you, I'd like another Kent-Nicole story. Boy, what some people will do to learn their craft! by the middle of the book, I wanted to lock Kent up!
I think I was fooled fair and square on the who done-it side of things. I had the killer on my short list.
It was fun, even a bit racy at times but in this case, I think that sort of sexual hot vibe thing helped highlight what was going on with the serial killer. Nicole pissed me off in the begining too. I thought she was going to be one of those wimpy girls. She grew up. I liked her by the end... well just before... you know?

Yes, that's why I decided to like her, though she was kind of Kent's Boy Toy for a while there. I'm sure the "briefing" did a lot to enhance her reputation as a serious police officer.

Less adventurous but oh so good, and rich, and buckets of wonderful

I understand. I happen to be a "Virgil Flowers" fan my self. (or, that Effing Flowers). I've also read the first "Rules of Prey" series (Davenport). I haven't been disappointed yet.

Couldn't agree more with both of ya!

Love Lucas Davenport...that is my kinda guy. Flowers is great but he tends to make me laugh with his attitude.
I listened to Heat Lightning on audio tape and I was laughing as he chased one of the suspects down in a race to beat him to "Indian Country." The narrator did a wonderful job. He's also funny about his ex wives. Yea, I laugh at Flowers. Davenport can be kind of scary. The first "Prey" books showed he's got a dark side, for a good guy.
Patrick, Patrick, Patrick. It's a good thing he's in an action adventure (cop chaser book) cause he sucks at romance. "Where's Tessa when you need her?"
The Queen is a good read so far.

Dirty White Boys is a 1994 crime thriller novel by American author Stephen Hunter. It covers the escape of convict Lamar Pye and two accomplices from a penitentiary in the mid-western USA, and highway patrol officer Bud Pewtie's attempts to track them down.

The tales of the police, the chase, the sleuth work, who don-it and Dirty Harry's big gun. What are some of the stories you liked. Who's your favorite cop in this genre? Something else you like about crime stories?
