I keep seeing these damn things around. They call 'em "QR Codes". I guess they're the new barcodes.

I came across another author who says he has created business cards with the name of his book, catch phrase, maybe a few graphics, but also includes this barcode. I was just wondering if anyone else has done something like this. By the way, I found a QR Code generator and made a quick one myself.

Here's the link: http://www.lentari.com/wp-content/upl...

I actually downloaded a barcode scanner app for the ipad and like a dork, I'm scanning everything I can to see how it works.

Brandy Camel | 66 comments QRs are getting really popular in viral marketing - they were ALL over the place at San Diego Comic Con. Apparently they're also really popular overseas, mostly in Asian countries (Korea, Japan, China, etc.).

It hasn't really taken off a ton in the states that I've seen, but it never hurts to give new technology a try, especially when there's not much to lose from it!

Patricia Lynne (pjlauthor) I had an author I follow twitter recommend using them, but I have yet to try them out.

I'll have to let you know how it goes.

I have some extra blank business cards lying around, so I think I'll design up something advertising both books. Can always use it as a bookmark. Speaking of which, does anyone know if Avery has any blank bookmark templates you can create yourself? That'd be a good addition to the giveaways if I slip in a custom bookmark with each copy I give away.

Will have to get off ye olde keester and take a look. :)

I agree with the bookmark thing as marketing. I got one with my copy of Flank Hawk and it is my favorite bookmark now.

I used postcards.com--it wasn't expensive and they were very fast. e
