Our October 2011 book is Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. Discuss away!

Have you read any of Palahnuik's other books?

i have read most of the older ones...i was on a palahniuk kick awhile back.

I've read his books: Fight Club, Choke, Survivor, Lullaby and Diary. I enjoyed all of them but my favorite was Choke. I've been meaning to read Invisible Monsters for quite some time now, so I am really happy to finally have an excuse to read it. ;)

i think "invisible monsters" was my first experience with this author, and led me further into his other novels. i have read all of the above, but i can't remember quite the complete list. so worth the read :)

Looking forward to this one (if I ever finish Moloka'i that is!) I've read a few by Palahniuk, Choke, Snuff, Fight Club, and Diary and I have Lullaby but haven't read it yet. ] Damned by Chuck Palahniuk comes out soon, it looks great!

Diary was my first Palahniuk and I didn't really like it but I feel like I might like it more if I read it again now that I'm used to his style. I was expecting something so different that I got annoyed. Now that I know to expect the most bizarre twists I think I would appreciate it more. Snuff was really funny, crude and over the top, but definitely entertaining.

Lisa | 22 comments The only book that I have read of his is "Haunted" which was very bizarre but interesting. He is definitely a unique writer... Very curious about "Invisible Monsters" =0)

and a link to today's entry on the blog there: http://chuckpalahniuk.net/news/omg-wa... YES, shoes for the book we are currently reading. I think we should all wear them to the meeting later this month. ;)

Love the shoes! We'd create quite a stir at Rustic Kitchen in those!

Lisa | 22 comments So much to say about this book... it was bizarre, strange, disturbing, eye opening, and kept my attention the whole time. Can't wait to discuss at book club - great pick, the conversation should be interesting!!

I am still waiting to get INVISIBLE MONSTERS from the library, so in the meantime to get me in the mood for some Chuck, I'm reading his essay/short story collection Stranger Than Fiction. It's been sitting on my shelf for awhile and now is a good a time as any to read it.

My copy of his new book Damned just came at the library so I have to try and read that first (since I'm sure I'll only have it a week) and then tackle Invisible Monsters. I just got an email that one of Jack's soccer games has been rescheduled (there have been 3 rain outs) for 10/30 at 12:40 and we also got invited to a birthday party that day so it's not looking too good for me to make it to the Rustic Kitchen anyway. Bummer.

Just got a message from goodreads (some of you may've gotten it also...) that there will be a video chat with Chuck P soon:

We noticed you have read a book by Chuck Palahniuk, so we have some exciting news for you! Chuck will be on answering questions about his new novel Damned in a half-hour live video chat at 2 pm Eastern/11 am Pacific on Tuesday, November 1. If you have a question for Chuck about his work, click the link below and RSVP "Yes" to receive a reminder the day before the chat.
http://www.goodreads.com/event/show/2...

NOTE: I got a message that this Chuck chat is cancelled. Our book club however, is still on, despite this October Nor'easter!
