Ana Sofía Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Good Reads for Teens!I'm Starburst. This is a group for book-loving teens (like me). If you want to discuss books, authors, and other stuff like that, then this is the group for you. If you decide to join, leave a response to this with your introduction info, and your favorite book.
Thanks!

Adriana Hey! I'm Adriana.
I love young adult preferably dystopian books, all types of movies (especially sappy ones!), televisions shows, video games, and I kind of like to draw.

My favorite book is...
Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson

message 3: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía OH!!! I love that book!

message 4: by Adriana (new)

Adriana What!? FINALLY!!!! I've never met anyone who's even heard of it.

message 5: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía Yeah! It's sooo good! But did you know that the author died in october last year? Her books were so good! :'(

message 6: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Yes.. She had just finished One Dog and His Boy.

I remember loving Dial-a-Ghost by her and A Company of Swans was good as well.

message 7: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía I liked Which Witch? and Island of the Aunts. I used to be obsessed with her books.

message 8: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I've wanted to read Which Witch for a while now.
Island of the Aunts? I don't remember seeing that book before...
The Secret of Platform Thirteen is supposed to be good. I read somewhere that Harry Potter took a bunch of ideals from it. I think Ibbotson said that all books take things from others.

Here is an article that talks about it:

message 9: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía hm.... Interesting article.
yeah, Island of the Aunts is another great book by Eva Ibbotson... look it up.

message 10: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh! Island of the Aunts... I remember seeing the cover before.
Wow. I should read more of her books.

message 11: by Adriana (new)

Adriana What's your favorite book Starburst?

message 12: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. That's my all-time favorite. But I like a lot of books.

message 13: by Adriana (new)

Adriana That's right! You put it on the other group. Sorry! I am so forgetful.
I didn't realize it was a classic.

message 14: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía Yes, it is. A ton of people say it's super boring, but I love it. You should definitely read it.

message 15: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Sure. Why not (:
I always say how I hate classics but one of my favorite books is a classic.
The Chocolate War (Chocolate War, #1) by Robert Cormier
Robert Cormier is pure genius! He's kind of dark sometimes and the twists in his stories. Whoa!

message 16: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía hm... I haven't read that one. It looks interesting, though.

message 17: by Adriana (new)

Adriana You know there is a sequel to A Tree Grows in Brooklyn right?

message 18: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía really? what is it?

message 19: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I just looked the book up and the sequel was below it.
It's called A Tree Grows in Brooklyn & Maggie-Now.

message 20: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía oh.... cool. I'll be sure to read that.

message 21: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I wonder... when I'm no longer a teenager will I still be able to be in this group?

message 22: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía sure... whatever. It doesn't really matter, as long as you still read, you know, teen books.

message 23: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Cool

Are we going to get to vote on books or..?

message 24: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía I don't know... I was kinda thinking we could have a book of the month and all discuss it or something along those lines.
Do you have any suggestions?

message 25: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Hmm..
I think we could have more than one book per month because from past experience I sometimes don't like the book of the month that the group voted.

Sometimes it works out. I did end up reading a book I didn't want to and it was really good but other books I just don't want to try.

message 26: by Adriana (new)

Adriana We can do challenges too..

message 27: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía There's an idea!

message 28: by Jewel (new)

Jewel | 1 comments hi im new but i just want to tell u my fave books:
harry potter
percy jackson
the sisters grimm
magic in manhattan
eyes like stars and any books by gail carson levine

message 29: by Adriana (new)

Adriana The Sister Grimm! I love when I see people liking the series. He needs to write the next one!!!

PJ is the best except the last book that just came out and HP is pure awesomeness.

Never heard of Magic in Manhattan. I still need to read the second Eyes Like Stars book. I only know Fairest by Levine myself but haven't read it yet. Does she do other fairy tale ones?

message 30: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía Oh, I love Magic in Manhattan!

message 31: by Adriana (new)

Adriana What's it about?

message 32: by Ana Sofía (last edited Oct 31, 2011 06:17PM) (new)

Ana Sofía It's about these teenage girls who live in manhattan, and they're witches. They go to witch camp and do witchy stuff and cast spells and stuff like that. It's pretty interesting.

message 33: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Ahhhh! I've been wanting to read books about witches! It's destiny.

message 34: by Ana Sofía (last edited Oct 31, 2011 06:22PM) (new)

Ana Sofía Yeah, it's a good series the first one is: Bras & Broomsticks (Magic in Manhattan, #1) by Sarah Mlynowski

message 35: by Adriana (new)

Adriana To-read!

message 36: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Starburst wrote: "There's an idea!"

I have this other group where there was a spell out challenge. It was sunflower or something like that. We can always try to do that... maybe the word November?

message 37: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía what do you mean by spell out challenge?

message 38: by Adriana (new)

Adriana For each letter you need to read a book with that letter.
N- Nevermore by Kelly Creagh
O- The Orchard by Jeffrey Stepakoff
V...etc.
I guess you would add links to the books and talk about them along the way. I don't really know. I didn't participate in it because I got there too late. I'm adding the talking about it even though I don't think I saw that.

message 39: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía Oh, that makes sense! I'm smart...
Yeah, that's a good idea! And november is good, but I don't know if I could read that many books in one month...

message 40: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Just make it a smaller word. Something to do with the month or just a random word i guess.

message 41: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Turkey?
Family?
Awesome?
idk

message 42: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Maybe a genre and we have to spell out the word and read that genre? Maybe that's too hard.

message 43: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía Well, we will figure it out somehow...

message 44: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I'm guessing were waiting for more people then we'll start correct?

message 45: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía Well, yeah. We can't really do much with 5 people... Maybe you could help get some more? ;)

message 46: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Sure.

message 47: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I invited some.

message 48: by Adriana (new)

Adriana yay! XD

Is Hush Hush the one about angels?

message 49: by Ana Sofía (new)

Ana Sofía umm.... okay

message 50: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Oh! lol.

What mangas do you read?
