Hey everyone I just thought I would make a post that everyone can introduce themselves in. Feel free to include links to any webpages, blogs, facebook, etc... also if you are an author it is fine to include a list of books that you have written here.

I'll start it off. My name is Scott from Columbus OH. I am in on way shape or form a writer. I am however an avid reader and a fairly active book reviewer. I started reviewing indie books at the beginning of the year and have so far written just over 100 reviews. I have about 15 books read that I still need to review and my goal is to write 125 reviews this year.

I maintain a blog at http://indiebookblogger.blogspot.com where my review can be found as well as interviews, guestspots, and giveaways. If you are interested in being featured or having a giveaway on the blog please let me know and we can get something scheduled.

Ok, I'm up. My name is Jeff, although I'm called "Big J" here in the club. I've written two books, Bakkian Chronicles, Book I - The Prophecy & Bakkian Chronicles, Book II - Insurrection.

I live in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I'm a freelance computer tech. I'm the one that shows up at your door to get your computer working again. I've only recently started reading/reviewing indie books as a thank you for giving my own a chance. I do have a website at www.Lentari.com which I post reviews on, offer technical help on, etc.

My hobbies: reading, writing, scuba diving, watching movies, playing video games, taekwando, astronomy, etc. Whew, what a mix. :)

message 4: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Lynne (pjlauthor) Hello all, I'm Patty. I live in the upper peninsula of Michigan (the real upper MI, not what the downstaters refer to as upper MI when all they mean is the tip of the mitten.) I recently published my first novel at the end of August Being Human and am working on a short story and about a million other stories I want to do something with.

Scott, I may have to look into your blog. I could use some exposure (don't we all though?)

When I'm not writing, I'm usually making jewelry (or I should be, but in reality am screwing off on twitter. find me @patricialynne07) or knitting.

Umm, I think that's it and I'll shut up for now. ^_^

Deborah Prestwood | 7 comments Hello to everyone, my name is Deborah (but you can call me Debbie). I'm new to the Indie Book Club -- just joined last week. I live on the northwest gulf coast of Florida, which is definitely a pretty nice place to live.

I published my first novel STRANGE LOOPS, which I co-wrote with my daughter, Jennifer Rose. Currently working on a children's book which I hope to illustrate myself.

Other hobbies include painting (acrylic landscapes), cooking, hiking, and reading (of course!) Like Patty, I also like to make jewelry if there's any time left over.

Nice to meet you all!

message 6: by Ann (new)

Ann (annbrzezinski) | 1 comments Hi all, I'm Ann and I don't write anything (other than e-mails and memos) but I love to read. Once in a while, I read an article about what a writer went through - all the rejections - to get an unbeliveably wonderful book published, and it makes me wonder how many just gave up. How many great - really GREAT - books are stuffed into trunks in dusty attics? This is a heartbreaking thought to an avid reader - not only do we never get to read that book in the attic, how many more stories will never be born because the writer gave up? So, I thought I would join this group to find out about some of the books that aren't going to be on the Times Best-Seller list. Because I bet a lot of them will be pretty damn good.

Melissa | 8 comments Hey everyone! My name is Melissa and I'm a book blogger. I have loved to read ever since I was a little girl. Being a stay at home mommy with a part time job doesn't give me nearly as much time to read as I would like. I have always wanted to be an author but don't have the skills/patience to do it LOL. I have just started to get into reading indie and small press authors. I've been amazed at how much talent is out there. It bothers me that indie music and indie films are treasured but indie authors are treated like they are less than talented. Anyway I'm here to support the little guy. After all some of the greatest writers/books of all time where independently published. If you would like to check out my blog you can go to www.mommywantstoread.blogspot.com. It is a small casual blog :)

Chris Galford (galfordc) | 30 comments Hello all. My name's Chris - avid reader and aspiring writer. Been consumed by all things literary since I was old enough to read, and I must say the advent of the e-reader and the Indie author has only buoyed/accelerated that particular engagement. Professionally, I'm a freelance journalist, and on the creative front I'm proud to say I'll be releasing my first novel - a fantasy work - in just about a month now. Exciting time, to be sure.

Pleasure to make your acquaintances.

Thanks, Jeffrey! Good to be here. It would classify it on the darker side of fantasy, more in the vein of Martin and the like than Tolkien. I'll be sure to let you know when it's out (I see you've a lovely self-promo section here), but I can say up front it will be out in a month. Just in time for Christmas and all things jolly.

Edwin Stark Hello, this is Edwin Stark. I live in Venezuela, South America, right in the middle of a tropical rainforest. The sort of experiences I live there led me to write Hmmm, I'm gonna have a hard time gettingEco Station One nominated in this forum, because there's no "the-author-should-be-committed-for-writing-this" genre here! So, if anyone's interested in helping me push this nomination around, send me a message and arrangements will be made so you guys can get a review copy!

message 17: by Jeffrey, Lentarian Fire Thrower (new)

Jeffrey Poole (authorjmpoole) | 2287 comments Mod
Hello, Edwin!

Venezuela, huh? Very nice! So your book is Eco Station One? I've seen you mention it in the Amazon forums. Be sure to add your book to the group's book shelf and also write up a blurb and post it in the Self Promo section!

So, I'm curious! What made you say you should be committed for writing your book? That alone sounds like it'd be a good story!

Welcome to the group! And don't worry. Most of us in here are a little crazy. But in a good way. :)

G. Walker | 165 comments Hey all,
I'm Dave. I live in a small town in SW Missouri, and I write fantasy (and eventually sci-fi). I've been a member for a while, but haven't been around due to an "interesting" summer (think Chinese curses). But, things are finally getting back to normal, and I hope to be able to contribute a little bit more.
I've got one book out, From a Far Land: Jaben's Rift Book 1 and I'm finally getting back to work on the sequel. I write under the name G. David Walker.
I'm planning on picking up an e-reader soon so I can also join in on the book discussions.
Nice to see the group growing so much! :-)

message 19: by Edwin (new)

Edwin Stark Well, Jay, certainly living here can be a fountain of inspiration, but some of the stuff that happens in my home country generally would leave the characters from Alice in Wonderland eating dust!
Now, regarding on why I say that Eco Station would be cause enough to get me committed, is because it's a modern day fantasy written in a very off-the-wall, free flowing comedic style that's akin of handing someone their very first issue of Mad Magazine; some get it... some don't.

I'll go ahead and do as you advise me.

Welcome to the club, Kristina!

You're getting to release your first novel? Very nice! What's it about? Do you have a promotional blurb written for it yet?

message 27: by Kristina (new)

Kristina Jackson | 4 comments Hi Jeffrey,

I am working on the promotional blurb at the moment. It is called The Fools Journey. it's about a young woman's journey along the path of self-fulfilment and along the way she finds friends, love, a vocation and learns to accept that whilst the past can't be changed, an unhappy one can be laid to peaceful rest. Paranormal, inspirational, romance, historical.

Plus I've written a couple of romances.
A Time For Change
A Time To Heal

I have a couple of short stories out there too.
A Twist in the Tale
High Spirits A TRUE paranormal short story

And on twitter I'm @melcom1

In the year I've been doing this I've stumbled across some fabulous indie writers and now I very rarely read anything from trad publishers/authors. With the exception of Karen Rose that is. ;-)

message 33: by Renee (new)

Renee Pawlish (reneepawlish) Hi everyone! I'm Renee Pawlish and I want to thank you for the opportunity to tell you a bit about my books.
I write the Nephilim trilogy.

Book 1
Nephilim Genesis of Evil
Nephilim Genesis of Evil by Renee Pawlish

A dark power described in Genesis revisits a small mountain town.
A journalist who witnessed an evil presence searches for answers.
He finds a town succumbing to supernatural forces.
Now, an evil prophesy may be fulfilled by the Nephilim.

REVIEWS

This book grabs you immediately and it doesn't turn you loose until you've read the last word. Carefully plan when you will begin reading it because it's more than likely you won't be able to put it down. Renee Pawlish is now on my favorite writer list and it's not a long one.
Bert Carson, author of Southern Investigation

Nephilim Genesis of Evil is a chilling, horror outing that uses The Apocrypha as source material for its menacing beings. It's a well-crafted tale of the re-emergence of spirits who are the offspring of humans and angels. This is a powerful and well-written effort.
Sidney Williams, author of Midnight Eyes and Blood Hunter

Nephilim is a sort of twist on the vampire novel, a sort of supernatural detective novel set in a lakeside Colorado town, focusing on an ancient evil described in Genesis. I would...associate it with the works of Stephen King.
Chris Nelson, dreamlogic.net

The next book in the series will be available soon.

I also have the Reed Ferguson Mystery Series
This Doesn't Happen In The Movies
Reel Estate Rip-off

Take Five
a short story collection

The Sallie House: Exposing the Beast Within a non-fiction account of a haunted house investigation in Kansas.

Free samples are available at Amazon or Smashwords.

Please consider adding one (or all) of my books to your shelves and let me know what you think of them, good, bad, or indifferent. All I ask is for honest opinions. Thanks!
Renee Pawlish
