Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments I know this is a bit early, but it's going to take a little preparation time.

Do you ever look at your ever growing TBR pile and wonder which book you should read next? Do you wish that someone else would simply say, "Here! Read this one?"

November's challenge is going to do just that!

I need to know who is going to participate. You have until Oct 27th to indicate whether or not you will participate. I will then put all the names into a hat and draw partners for everyone. Your partner will go to your TBR list on Goodreads and select one book from your list and that will be your November read.

Who is going to join in?

Janice
Judy
Cheryl
Diana
Kate
Amber
Karen
Michelle
Heather
Jane
Alison
Kat
Susan
Emma
Amy
Kimberly

message 11: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments Hi Jane! Welcome to YLTO. Enjoy your new Kindle.

message 12: by Alison (new)

Alison Forde | 269 comments Im in - just catching up on goodreads as I've been in Venice with my husband and without my children. Still got some reading done though!

message 13: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments My sister was in Venice about a week ago. Did you see her? LOL! Just kidding. She returned home yesterday.

message 14: by Alison (new)

Alison Forde | 269 comments Janice wrote: "My sister was in Venice about a week ago. Did you see her? LOL! Just kidding. She returned home yesterday."

Hey I returned home yesterday - maybe I'm secretly your sister!

message 15: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) Sorry, you ladies made me laugh so I almost choked on my tea!

message 16: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments One can always use a secret sister. :) That would almost be like having an imaginary sister - one who agrees with everything I say and brings me wine from Italy.

LOL! Cheryl. I hope the tea wasn't too hot. :)

message 17: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments OK, I'm in - I've got far too many books on my TBR, I can't make a decision on my own!

message 18: by Snoozie Suzie (new)

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments Mmmmmmeeeeeee! Haven't managed the October one so will do this instead.

message 19: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments Super! The list is growing. :)

message 20: by Emma (new)

Emma | 34 comments I'm interested in this, but get most of my books from the library. Not all of the books on my TBR are available there, so if a book not at the library was chosen, could we ask for a new selection? I could also go through and tag which books are at the library too...

Tagging the books that are available at the library would be a workable solution.

Diana S Judy wrote: "Welcome Diana! This is going to be fun!!"

Thanks Judy and Janice for the Welcome! I'm looking forward to this challenge. :)

message 23: by Snoozie Suzie (new)

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments When do we get our 'partner'? Excited like a kid waiting for Father Christmas. Or impatient.

message 24: by Cheryl (last edited Oct 26, 2011 04:15PM) (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) I feel the same way Susan! But since there's another whole day for entries, I'm guessing we'll have to wait at least one day... ;)

message 25: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments I hate those programs on tv where they build the suspense before they announce the winner. I always think, "Out with it!" We do have one more day for signups, so it will be Friday when I draw names.

message 26: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments I'm going to be offline until Tuesday, so don't think I've backed out :)

message 27: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments Ok, thanks Kat!

message 28: by Snoozie Suzie (new)

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments But that's Friday in your world which is later than my world. Hurrumph!! Lol

message 29: by Kat (new)

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments Then again, I'm as curious as Susan so I may have to find a McDonalds and steal wifi !

message 30: by Janice, Moderator (last edited Oct 27, 2011 12:27PM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments Ahhh yes - the problem of time zones. When I get home from work tonight, I'll post them. That would be in about 8-10 hours. :)

message 31: by Snoozie Suzie (new)

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments Squeals in excitement!!

Kimberly | 2033 comments I'm in (if I'm not too late).

message 34: by Janice, Moderator (new)

message 35: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (cherylllr) That's a good idea... but...

message 36: by Janice, Moderator (last edited Oct 28, 2011 08:05PM) (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments Here we go! *drum roll*

Janice's pick for Karen is Faithful Place
Judy's pick for Amy is September
Cheryl picks for Kimberly
Diana picks for Kat
Kate picks for Alison
Amber picks for Diana
Karen picks for Michelle
Michelle picks for Judy
Heather picks for Jane
Jane picks for Cheryl
Alison picks for Susan
Kat's pick for Amber is Those Who Save Us
Susan picks for Janice
Emma picks for Kate
Amy picks for Emma
Kimberly picks for Heather

Here are some things to consider...

If you have your profile set on private, you might want to add your partner as a friend so she can see your books.

If you have special considerations - like Kat is going to be away for a few days, and Emma has a TBR Library shelf she wants you to pick from - let your partner know.

Please tell your partner in this thread which book from her TBR shelf you want her to read by November 1st.

There will be no points awarded for this challenge, unless there's a huge demand for it. If so, point qualifiers will be announced once everyone has their selection.

Have fun!

message 37: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59851 comments @ Susan - Please pick from my To-Read shelf. Please don't pick any of the books that are also on my "World Tour Challenge". I've ear marked those for a challenge that doesn't start until January 2012.

I'm excited to see what you choose for me. :)

Thanks
Susan

message 41: by Kat (new)

message 42: by Snoozie Suzie (new)

Snoozie Suzie (snooziesuzie) | 937 comments Janice, Janice, Janice!!
I have picked 'Only Time Will Tell' by Jeffrey Archer. It jumped out at me as soon as i looked at your list; I haven't read one of his books for eons, and as far as i can remember i used to demolish them in days! I hope you enjoy it.
Susan

message 43: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2033 comments Cheryl anything works for me as long as its from my "Books I Own" shelf.

message 44: by Heather (new)

Heather (watsonridgeback) | 24 comments Kimberly: Please give me till end of day 10/29 to update my TBR list. I mainly use library books but have a few stacks of books at home that I would love to at least get through a couple of them. With that said, I would be open to a book that you loved that I haven't read yet. Thanks, Heather

message 45: by Kate (new)

Kate Z (kgordon3) | 144 comments Kimberly, pick Moby Dick for her! :-)

message 46: by Kimberly (new)
