Any Topic objections? Too hard? Too easy?

No, that's fine. Sorry, I forgot to explain this... The rules are pretty loose. You could either have the main character cold, the word cold, about the sickness cold... practically anything.... We'll see how this week goes, and if it doesn't work, we'll change the rules... work?

I thought the topic of the week was darkness. I had a short story ready for that. I can't do World War 2, but I will post a story next month. Also,
I thought we were supposed to write 2000-5000 words this week. It is the second week after all. I am so confused. Help!!

No, the 2 week contest is a completely separate thing... just go to the 2 week section (the first one: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6... post your story... we have a section for daily short short stories, a section for weekly slightly longer stories which is the WW2 subject this week, and then the contest that is voted on every 2 weeks. Meaning it will end for the first two weeks at the same time the weekly contest will end, the 9th.... make sense?

If you're still confused, you might want to read the instructions for both the weekly and 2 week contest... if you're still confused after that, I'll try to explain better...

Play... (no objection here, but...) I don't know how you do it... how can something so simple as "cold" "darkness" and "play", be so hard?

I know, sometimes you just give a simple word, and POW it sets up a mind block... lol... thats why I can't do every contest...

Cani object to this weeks topic of Squares?I just dont know what i could do with squares...squares....squares.....a square mentality? eh, i dunno.

Its not really very inspiring (No offence Arthur) But we usually have topics like "Death" or "Rain" or "moon" or something that could really spark a heartfelt story, but squares isint really doing it for me....

hahah well we alway do seem to do stuff like sadness and death... maybe it'll be good to have a solid object for once. Sides, you don't actually have to have it about squares... just have the word in it...

what about "Slipper" what's that supposed to mean? can i use "slippery" or "slipped" but not "Slipper"?

Sure, I think any use of the word will work, you could add the word if you wish, or your story could be about saomething slippery...

It was because I suggested to Clare about leaving the vote for last week a day longer lasting until Monday night, it appears there is one hour left to vote, and because of the holiday now that people may return and then we can finally start a new week. The new Short Story contest may appear Tuesday sometime. Sorry for the confusion everyone, etc. the holidays took a lot of people away. Thanks for understanding.

yes yes, but before i started writing i sat down with some ice cream and though about WHY someone would be suicidal! I came up with wonderfuly depressing emotional situations!! YAY! Also i decided that my Character is going to do the pills and rum trick. FuN!

Just jk'n. You cover this topic a lot in your stories. We could do it soon some week. Maybe my next turn I 'll post it. Clare and I take turns posting the topics. We usually choose our own or take one from the suggested of topics. Right now Clare is trying to pick a new picture for the next picture story contest. She's open to suggestions.

The first & third look familiar, I think I've seen them before. The second reminds me of fable writers. But. The third one, the child looks disabled. Hum, very conscious pictures.
