When I read a really good book I try to find more by the same author but it can be disappointing (especially if you've started with their best work to date).
So what pap books have you read by authors that you otherwise like?

This is the article that made me think to start this thread http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/books... it makes interesting reading.

Ten | 34 comments I love J.D.Salinger, but I always thought Catcher in the Rye was a bit crap - it's so different from his other books, it peeves me it's his famous one as it makes people dislike him, when he's a genius.
Two of the best books I've ever read are by Jose Saramago The Gospel According to Jesus Christ by José Saramago Blindness by José Saramago , but stay away from The Stone Raft - it is absolutely dismal.

Interesting - when I started getting in to short stories (was pregnant) I read great things about his short stories (J.D. Salinger) have you read them?

Ten | 34 comments Yes, they are beautiful :) A bit theatre-esque, in the sense that there's not much of "he thought this/she thought that", you have to mostly work it out for yourself. Also they feel as if you have parachuted into a scene, like overhearing the middle of a conversation and trying to figure it out.
My college library had a very old and battered copy of Nine Stories, I kept checking it out again and again. I pondered bying myself a copy but never could, it feels wrong if it's not that particular book.

I still need to read Nine Stories and I've wanted to read Blindness for a while (and I know which box my copy is wrapped in - it's hardback Blindness/Seeing) I think I was a bit put off after reading All the Names by José Saramago which went on a bit in parts. Blindness / Seeing by José Saramago . Have you read Seeing?
