I created several folders. We will see if we can keep our comments organized. If not, I can delete the folders.

One folder that I created is for the former "Reading Cookbooks" message board. I hope it becomes more active.

There will be topics within each folder. To reply to a message, just click on "post a comment" after the message and a box will open up.

Alias Reader (aliasreader) JoAnn, I don't see the new folders you mentioned in your post of 10/27. (Reading Cookbooks )
I only see 8 folders, all regarding how to use the board.
I don't see anyone else posting replies or new threads.

Alias, the folders only show once they have been posted to....so I am doing that now, putting a post in each folder.

To see all the folders, click on the word DISCUSSIONS

Alias Reader (aliasreader) JoAnn, I used the contact link to ask for the formatting instructions for the board. For example how to make something bold, italics, etc.

This was the reply, but I don't see what they are talking about. If you see it, could you post it?

Thanks !

Are you referring to using HTML formatting in your posts or reviews?
The full list of formatting tips is found on the right side whenever
you edit a book review.

Alias, the only place I see the HTML formatting is on the right side when you start a new topic. It would not copy to this post, so I will e-mail it to you

Alias Reader (aliasreader) JoAnn, when a post is put in the wrong thread, (as in this thread) is there anyway to move it to the correct thread ?

Nope, the only thing I can do is cut and paste it and re-post it under my name in the correct thread. I guess the original poster could do this also, but I am not sure.

The moderator can only move an entire topic from one folder to another, not take one comment and move it from one topic to another.

NancyInWI (nanckopf) | 47 comments Is there any way of not seeing posts you've already read? That's what I liked about AOL and what I don't like about every other message board I've tried. I really don't want to wade through all the ones I've read to get to the new ones.

Nancy, there is no way to mark posts as "read" BUT you can click the word DATE at the top of the page of posts and the newer ones will move to the top of the page. Does this help?

Not really! I still have to scroll down to find the last one that I read...if I read them backwards like that, then sometimes someone will be answering something from a post I haven't read yet.

This is what has kept me from yahoo groups, and several other message boards that I've tried through the years.

I feel your pain. Now I see what you mean. It amazes me that AOL could do this and no one else has been able to....

And now AOL is bent on throwing it away... Did you notice how brain-dead are the topics they are promoting on the "new" message-board function?

On the AOL people connection page? I also notice that if you click on some of these brain-dead topics you are tranported to Yahoo message boards! What's with that?

If you only want to see new posts
find the box on the right side that says:
Search Posts

Under that box you will see a link for: UnRead Topics,.

Just click on that to see only the new posts in a thread.

* note if when you see the list and don't want to read any of the new posts, you will see a Mark All Read link.

* if you want to go back to the full list of all the Folders, just click on Discussions from the list.
