And there wouldn't have been a way around it. I mean, you can't fully characterize the MC that happens to swear a lot by just saying, "she cursed" or "she uttered a foulty"
ok good idea, and how about fake curse words that make no sense in the real world but are really bad in the book?

yes seth like floogles.
and randi i know what you mean...its kind of creepy that your characters come so to life when you are writing, it'r like they are sitting in the rrom with you!

haha. instead of saying the f-word i say thump. THUMP YOU!!!
LOL!!!!! ooo thats funny, i mean in my nano the character said "what the hell" or scared the hell out of..... but only that

And I've been considering using fake swears in this nano, because the normal ones wouldn't fit, and my MC (though she changed) is really very similar to my other MC, but in a different setting. I mean, Constance is a bit less overall angry and a bit more homicidal than Jackie. :D

Well, more of insults really. She might just think them in her head though. See, if she insulted the king, he could behead her (but he wouldn't, for reasons that will later be revealed)and she isn't willing to risk that.
Because if she was dead, then she couldn't kill the king!
lol!!!! if you want to make fake ones thoughthat have to sound really good.....and no like 'floogles'

Many contests will reject a story with the F word, but other will allow its usage.
Bottom line, either write for yourself or for your market.

Normally, I am all for characters showing their personality through speech, which could easily involve swearing, but I learned the word "euphemism" today and could not resist the opportunity to use it properly.
Now I shall have a party in my head to celebrate the elimination of "being" verbs from my post!

Euphemisms can be down right hysterical, especially in romance novels. Please don't get me started.
I personally love my new favorite word...Snarky.
