Rachel | 12 comments I really enjoyed reading Wind and Shadow by Kathy Tyers. It is the fourth book in her Firebird saga. I would love to discuss it if anyone else picked it up.

Janelle (janelle5) I haven't read it yet but I love the firebird books. Eventually I will get to reading it but for now I'm looking forward to re-reading the firebird books. Just bought them today from Marcher lord press. ! I'll be interested to see what u think.

Rachel | 12 comments I enjoyed it, but I didn't relate as well to the main characters as I did in the original three books. Of course, part of my affection for them might have been because of the time of life I was in when I read them, a new wife.

I am very curious if she plans on more sequels. I hope she does. Tyers opens up a whole bunch of plot directions with the new book. :)

My review is still percolating in my head. Hopefully I will be able to sit down to write it soon.

Rachel | 12 comments What did you like best about the original books, Janelle?

Janelle (janelle5) It's hard to nail that down a little bit. I loved the characters, especially Firebird. Her story gave me an outlet and an understanding of things I was experiencing in my own life. If I had read the lessons of the Firebird books in a non fiction genre or even in a book of real-life fiction I don't think it would have had the same impact. It was by becoming so involved in the story and the characters that the message got through to me so powerfully.
How about u? What did u like about them?

Janelle (janelle5) I'll be interested to read your review. Hopefully there will be sequels to come from Kathy Tyers

Rachel | 12 comments Firebird's struggle to release control and her pride into the Lord's hands spoke to me when I first read the trilogy. Each time I reread them I find something more I enjoy about them. Kathy Tyers does and excellent job of writing complex yet accessible novels. She doesn't dumb down for the reader and makes me think. I enjoy all of her work. I posted reviews of the original trilogy. Strangely I cannot find them on here. Hmm... I will have to look later. :)
