I am thankful that my family is healthy. I work in a Cancer Center and these patients are among the bravest people I have ever known. They don't know if they will see tomorrow let alone another holiday and yet they come in most of the time with a smile and a Good Morning. May I learn to be more like them in the face of a devastating diagnosis.

I hope each and everyone of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday celebrating with friends and family, enjoying whatever traditions you hold dear.

We do the cheesey thing of going around the table and naming what we are grateful for. I remove family, job, home, church, health and friends as an option since we are all grateful for that and I want them to have to think a bit more about their answers. As my turn came around I decided I was thankful for books.

To continue though I am thankful for books and book groups. I am thankful for all of you and for the great discussions and debates that flow through this group. I am thankful for learning to see books in a different way and to appreciate books I might never have tried. I am grateful for pages and ebooks. I am grateful for words and stories. I am thankful for friendships born through book discussions and layers uncovered from discussions. I am thankful for thought provoking topics and understanding moments.
I'm thankful for COL.

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments We also have the tradition in our family of naming the things we are thankful for before dinner. It has become a lovely tradition that I truly enjoy!
I am also thankful for books..... and Goodreads! I never knew or even imagined how many dear, dear friends I would make because of this website! Though I have never met any of you face to face, this doesn't seem to matter! My list of friends include many of you!

Brenda, Thanks for that heart touching post!!! And...thanks for being one of my DEAR friends!!
