Karen Witzler (kewitzler) | 79 comments I couldn't find a German selection that I wanted to read - but you have reminded me of Hans Fallada.

His book seems interesting. Have you read any of his books?

No - he's been on my TBR list since I read about him in

Who's Who in Twentieth-Century Literature by Martin Seymour-Smith and learned that he changed his name to that of the wise self-sacrificing horse from the Grimm tale "The Goose Girl" - a childhood favorite.

The Seymour-Smith book (I still have my battered 1978 copy) is an interesting look at the first half of the 20th century and was my introduction to many major figures.

Jenny (Reading Envy) (readingenvy) | 1309 comments I added your books to the master list! You don't need to let me know when you take one off, but if you add anything from this point forward, it'd be great if you could leave a comment here. Thanks!

Niledaughter Nice list Paras and I hope you will like "Zaat" :)

Parsa | 101 comments Jenny, I have added remaining books to my list. I have left a gap in between so that you can know which I inserted recently. I hope that helps.

I hope so. There are so many different type of readings that would be done through this list, I am not sure how many I would like but I am ready to find out. :)

Thank you Chelsea, I picked up many from Master list too :P
Though I must say, making a whole list was hard work!

Lara (laradyane) You have some interesting books on your list! I had forgotten about The Ice Palace--I've been meaning to read that for ages. Thanks for the reminder! :)

message 18: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments I am glad :))

message 19: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments I don't have internet access for a while. Made me already start reading for the challenge.

message 20: by Gussie (new)

Gussie (a_reader_1) | 68 comments Great compilation, Paras. I see that we have quite a few books in common. :-) Let me know when you're going to read 'I Saw Ramallah' and 'A Case of Exploding Mangoes'. It'd be fun to discuss it together.

Sure would :)

message 22: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments I really wanted to read Death with Interruptions but I couldnt find it. So now I am reading Blindness.

Half of the books I have enlisted are the ones I am unable to find. Sad. One of the reasons why I have decided to read less books

message 23: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments So, so far behind :(

message 24: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments Judy, I loved Blindness. Have you read it yet? We should discuss it once u have read it. :))

I just feel lazy about starting My name is red. Pamuk can write tiresome details at times :D

message 25: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments Judy wrote: "Uh huh. Sounds like you are familiar with his writing...

If you read my review of that book, you will see that I tried my hardest to find something good to write about it. I hope you like it better than I did. However, it sounds like you have read some of his other works, so you must already have an appreciation for his writing in order to undertake this one.
"

I have read two of his work. Both have been tediously filled with details may be that is why I am procrastinating to read this but it has been on my to-read list for sometime. Though, I like history, so ur review tells me I might just get fascinated with the book :D

message 26: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments I am not realizing most of my books are from Asia and Europe. If I do this challenge Next year too, I would have to remember to balance all continents.

message 27: by Rusalka (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 1104 comments Mod
I've done the same. 33 of my 52 books are from Asia or Europe.

However, I think as long as you have a mix you are okay. I mean, think about how different Lebanon is to Japan, or Sweden to Macedonia, Indonesia to Uzbekistan, Estonia to Spain. They are huge, dense cultural spaces!!

message 28: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments True that Rusalka. :))

message 29: by Parsa (new)

Parsa | 101 comments My list is changing and though I am unable to make changes on lust here for now from my phone but I am making progress however small. Still I don't think I'll be able to complete the challenge as I set it for myself
