Nikki I want to first start by saying that I borrowed this from another group. I changed a few things to fit with our group but all the creative planning was all them!!

This one is a TITLE search challenge--it's not based on finding pictures on the cover, but finding words in the title of the book.

But instead of giving you specific words to search for, we're going to do categories. I've listed a bunch of examples, but you're not limited to those--use your imagination and find words that fit the categories.

The duration of this challenge will be one year from your start date starts January 1st 2012. So whenever you decide to start, you will have one year to complete it. Please post your dates with your list.

You may use anthologies & rereads but must read again in 2012 not previous years.

Also, if you are having a hard time with a category, you many use the series name if it is printed on the cover of the book. Everyone can do that for up to 3 categories.
Please create a post under this folder that has your list (if you know it, if not then number 1-24. Be sure to add what category it is at each number) as you finish each category you will “edit” your post to add what Book it was, the author, how many stars you are giving it and the date you finished.

In the TITLE of a book, find a word that fits the below categories:

***items below in italics are just suggestions from me, use them or come up with new ones, I just wanted to give examples and I got carried away. :)

Tatum | 459 comments Sara, I would prefer to jump around and I think for a year long challenge that makes more sense as we can work it in along with other reads better that way... but if the group decides to go in order, I'll work around it.

message 11: by Johanna (new)

Johanna | 766 comments I´m doing this challenge and I´ll keep track of it in my topic Johanna´s in the member´s corner. I wish we can jump around!

Tatum | 459 comments Added occupation to my I SPY Challenge... very foolishly went and looked at the page for The Historian... went to website and bought The Historian... now have another long book to read... 734 pages, good for Door Stopper Challenge too, pleased again... though someone should stop me from going to look at books people talk about it almost always ends with me with an ever longer TBR pile!

Tatum | 459 comments Congrats on finishing three Johanna!

I have one done, First Name: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I rated it 2/5 and my review is in my personal challenge thread.

Honestly, about the only thing I think this book was good for is that I could use it in two challenges! But I sort of had to finish it as it's the group read in another one of my groups.

If you count chinese elements as well, you can pick wood and metal ;).
Oh, but I read Ox-tales: Earth and finished it yesterday, that does count for the Elements, doesn't it?

message 42: by mussolet (new)

mussolet (sovotchka) | 615 comments If it hadn't counted, I would have read the three following ones entitled "Fire", "Water" and "Air" ;).

That said, I was trying to not have these books be part of other challenges and I have been busily trying to get the books for the other challenges read. I figure I have 11 months left, plenty of time right? We will be in trouble if I am still saying this come November!

Danielle (dmansell) | 135 comments So far I have two down

Family Member - The Horsemasters Daughter - Susan Wiggs

and

Something to Read - The Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kingslover

I started my 3rd which is

Metal - The Bronze Horseman - Paullina Simmons.

I'm off to a pretty good start with my reading this year since I instituted 8:00 pm DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time in my house. What can I say I'm regressing back to my childhood. DEAR time at school was my absolute favourite and I have lots of fond memories of being chastised for trying to hide my book in my lap and continue reading after it was over :)

Although much of the violence is muted, its still about war and killing people.
