Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 40 comments i just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close which was AMAZING..and I'm now starting on Hard Times by Charles Dickens..mostly for school but I should probably read Dickens eventually.

message 2: by Kristie (new)

Kristie (spedkristie) I'm reading Jane Eyre. I'm liking it and its not a terribly hard read!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 40 comments I feel like that's a book I should have read by now..i really should just do it.

message 4: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (edibletrees) Ah, jeez, Jane Eyre. I read it in 11th grade and hated every minute of it. I never hear bad things so I'm thinking I should give it another go

I just read John Updike's "Rabbit, Run" which is easily one of my favorites. It helped that he set his story in Reading, PA, making it all the more lovable to me.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 40 comments Hmm I'll have to pick that one up.

I think its funny how certain books that I read (and hated) in high school..i have a fear of reading again..but most of them I ended up liking now a few years down the road.

message 6: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (sawinkler) I'm currently on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I'm not a big mystery guy, and this is fairly slow going so far. In fact, the only character I'm really interested in is the title character, who so far has a pretty minor role.

I expect it will all start to move faster now that I'm halfway through.

message 7: by Kristie (new)

Kristie (spedkristie) I realized from being on GR all the time....that I never really read any classics. When I listened to The Thirteenth Tale, there were alot of references to Jane Eyre so here I am reading it!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 40 comments I'm currently reading the first book in the Uglies series..i don't think i really like it too much. it's for a book group..

before that i just finished The Book Thief..which was AMAZING!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished The Zookeeper's Wife. Loved it. True story about really interesting people trying to survive WWII Poland and includes a lot of historical information. Diane Ackerman is a great storyteller.

I too thought The Book Thief was amazing! I listened to the audio cd version recently which I enjoyed.

message 10: by B (new)

B Still reading Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia, considering continuing reading Confessions of an Eco-Sinner: Tracking Down the Sources of My Stuff, and trying to pick from a few fictions to see which to continue with (I read a bit of each):
Heart Of Stone
Hotter After Midnight
Kitty and the Midnight Hour

Jody | 4 comments i'm actually expanding my knowledge of super hero graphic novels and reading "watchmen" at the moment...it's really dense in a good way. so many submininal images throughout, it's kind of like the "hidden pictures" at the end of a highlights magazine, but for adults. really enjoying it!

message 12: by Jason (new)

Jason | 7 comments I'm about to start "Let The Right One In".

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 40 comments just finished The Thirteenth Tale A Novel and now going to re-read Franny and Zooey..because it's one of my favorites and i'm really in the mood to read it.

message 14: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jess0702) I'm working on The Audacity of Hope Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream...I figure as a supporter of the president it might be good to read his philosophies from his own mouth (or pen, i guess...)

Dave (nostredavus) | 2 comments Jamie wrote: "I'm currently reading Lolita. Has anyone else read this?"

Yep. The content is what it is, but I thought Nabokov's writing was just unbelievably good.

message 27: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk Paranoia - Joseph Finder

Free Kindle Download strikes again!

message 28: by Dana (new)

Dana | 11 comments Anna Karenina. I thought it would be a lot harder to read than it is turning out to be. Still taking me forever.

message 29: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien

Intense.

message 30: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk The Sari Shop Widow - Shobhan Bantwal

Wouldn't have read it without the enticement of a free Kindle download, but it was very interesting. I'd like to hear the opinion of an Indian reader, however, since the book is very much tied to that culture.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 40 comments I'm currently reading March
