Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) Since I don't want to overwhelm you guys with everything we'll have for 2012 all at one go, I'm going to spread out the updates in separate posts.

In 2011, we had all members chose a goal that they felt comfortable with, and also gave them the option to raise or lower that goal as they wished. In 2012, we'll be having the same model. The only change is that, we are no longer going to have a 250s club. Instead, here are your five clubs to choose from:

- The 50s Club
- The 100s Club
- The 150s Club
- The 200s Club
- The Sky's the Limit Club

What do I do?
- Choose how many books you would like to read in 2012, then go to the respective group and create a thread for yourself. (If you are new to this group and are not sure what/how to do it, see note at the bottom of my post.) For example, if you plan to read 100 books in 2012, go to The 2012 100s Club (link above), and create your own post where you will post your updates. If you plan to read 75 books in 2012, go to The 2012 50s Club (link above), and create your own post where you will post your updates.
- Each club has its own lounge (click on the club folder above to find it), so please go and start commenting whenever you wish.
- After you do that, join the group challenge:
= The 50s Club: go to this link
= The 100s Club: go to this link
= The 150s Club: go to this link
= The 200s Club: go to this link
= The Sky's the Limit Club: go to this link
Enter the number of books you plan to read in 2012, enter a shelf name ("2012reads" or "read-in-2012") that you like, and then click "Save challenge".

You're done! (Please let me know if you are running into any trouble.)

How to create a thread
- Go to the folder in which you want to create the thread
- Hit on "new topic" at the top
- Give the post a title and write something in the "comment" block.
- Hit "post" and you are done!

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Since I want to read 144 books next year, I would put it in the 100s Club folder, right?

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) You'll probably want to mark the lounges as important topics before too many post their topics.

Thanks for reminding! I totally forgot to do that. :)

Sally (salgalruns) I would love love love to hit 50, but I'm an elementary school principal. Enough said. I seem to be constantly working. However, with attempting to add audiobooks into my repetoire, I might actually be able to hit it! Nothing like using the 70 minute daily commute effectively!

sally what about listening at work with a CD player or something like that when you are doing paperwork?

message 11: by Sally (new)

Sally (salgalruns) Dee - thanks for the suggestion, but I get interrupted constantly. During the day, I'm out and about - either in classrooms, lunchroom, playground, or working with students. Before and after school are generally meeting times. If I do get a moment to sit and deal with some of the management stuff, then it's generally high focus time, and I couldn't follow an audiobook. My commute, though, is 35 minutes each way - I think I can rock out several that way over the course of the year! PLUS, I have a super fantastic vacation this summer with a TON of travel time - can't wait!!!

enjoy Sally! I find I get majorly distracted at work and I can't listen to music - so even though i'm up and down all day, even 10-20 minutes of listening helps ;)
