William Mego (willmego) Looks like the results are in, and the two winners we will begin reading Jan 2nd (or so) are:
The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon by Michael Chabon Michael Chabon
and
The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach by Chad Harbach Chad Harbach
So it looks like the discussion thread as to how long we should read is pretty much in agreement on how long to read (a month), and MORE or less of the mind to start simultaneously, and allow people to stagger reads themselves if they like. If we break into chapter chunks for discussion, and leave them open for a long time (or forever) then we shouldn't have any issues, I'd think. Also, we seem to agree entirely on the timing for each months picks, so a nomination process will begin anew, and will begin with the top non-picks from the previous month, nominations to finish and polling begin on Jan 9th, ending on Jan 16th. I'll select the books and set up folders as soon as I complete this post. logophile will lead discussions and set schedules unless I'm directed to.

Logophile | 41 comments Does that mean, Will, that my every wish is your command? ;-)

I hope everyone feels free to just jump in at any time with any thoughts, comments, questions, observations, etc., they have about the group reads (or any other relevant books you might be reading at the moment). I'm not sure how good I am at "leading discussion," so by all means, I hope y'all will help me (and Will, if I so direct him!) out by taking the lead as the spirit moves you!

I have to say, I'm excited about having the selections for our first read: One book that I've had on my to-read list for a long time, and one that wasn't even on my radar before this poll--just the mix I love!

Yippee, my two top choices won! Thanks for restarting the group, Will, Maggie, and Logophile. I'm looking forward to reading with the new group.

Elizabeth (razor_face) | 1 comments Also very excited to read these two! I think they are a nice blend of classic and alternative.
