Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments It is a tad early (just a few days in the 2011).

However, we can start off the new year with a currently reading BANG! and I'm looking forward to see what you are reading.

I'm sure we will be posting crazy fools. Especially, those of us that are entered in challenges. Check out our year 12x12 in 2012 challenge!

Excitement for this challenge has me ready to slaughter my reading numbers for this year!!!

I'm totally with you! I'm so excited for 2012!

As of right now, I'm debating which book to start reading: Everneath (Everneath, #1) by Brodi Ashton or Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi or Incarnate (Newsoul, #1) by Jodi Meadows . Suggestions, anybody?

Incarnate is what I would start with. That cover is absolutely gorgeous.

message 10: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Along with my fellow 12x12 challenge buddies, I'm super excited to "slaughter" (stealing your word, MS!) my reading pile this upcoming year.

December is fading into the dusk with Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë Specials (Uglies, #3) by Scott Westerfeld Blonde Ambition (A-List, #3) by Zoey Dean , and hopefully ttfn (Internet Girls, #2) by Lauren Myracle World War II 101 The TextVook by Dr. Vook .

January will be greeted with me reading: The Princess Diaries (The Princess Diaries, #1) by Meg Cabot The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies, #2) by Pittacus Lore Feast of Fools (The Morganville Vampires, #4) by Rachel Caine Tall Cool One (A-List, #4) by Zoey Dean .

That's what I was thinking of doing. Plus, I've heard this book is a little more action-packed, which is something I definitely need right now! I've heard Everneath and Under the Never Sky are a little bit slower.

Here's what I have lined up for January so far:
Dead Beautiful (Dead Beautiful, #1) by Yvonne Woon The Future of Us by Jay Asher Everneath (Everneath, #1) by Brodi Ashton Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1) by Kady Cross Struck by Jennifer Bosworth The Raft by S.A. Bodeen Life Eternal (Dead Beautiful, #2) by Yvonne Woon ... and whatever else I decide to pick up at the library!

message 12: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) You're definitely going to have a good start to the year with all those books :D. I can just tell!

I think I'll refrain from posting everything I want to read in January. Too tiresome. LOL!

message 13: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments 4 more books and you will make your 12 TBR book list for Jan. Yup, on a roll indeed!

4 more isn't a problem at all for me, lol. Let's just hope I can get them all read!

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments I'm pumped! Ready to read and getting a January List ready as well!

message 17: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yeah. Since I've planned out my reading lists for the next 3 months, I just want to focus on actually getting them read.

message 18: by Aneeqah (new)

Aneeqah | 227 comments Zakiya wrote: "Yeah. Since I've planned out my reading lists for the next 3 months, I just want to focus on actually getting them read."

Does planning out your books work for you? And how many books do you have lined up per month? [Sorry, I'm just a little curious. =)]

message 19: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments I like to have an idea of what I want to read but I'm very much a mood selector. Sometimes I can't stand another YA, or need a bloody historical, or I crave something light & fluffy.

However, I want the next few months to be planned so I have all my TBR books on my kindle/Nook. I switch up my ereaders while they charge. I'll wiggle between the months I'm sure but I will not have an option to run to the store for a book. Unless I learn to read more Chinese characters.

No problem! I don't mind answering questions:). I've got 12 lined up for each month, but I need 2 more for March. Usually, planning my books helps me out a lot; it might not be those exact books that get read, but it helps to keep me on the right track when it comes to finishing challenges.

MS- I used to be a mood selector, too. Then I met Goodreads and became a challenge addict :).

message 21: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments I'm going to try the challenge addict method this year ;) since u twisted my arm and all!

message 22: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) LOL! How so, dear Mad?

message 23: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments By planning all my months! LoL! At least until July to start. Then when I come back to the US I can gather 2012 books I wouldn't have access to. And work those into te rest of the year.

message 24: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) LOL! I'm sorry I twisted your poor arm! But I think planning will help you while you're over there :). I would've planned my books until June, but I don't have enough in all of my categories yet.

message 25: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments I'll plan sometime today and have u look it over.

Bloody revolution is pretty darn good. Men are kissing lips of the female heads on the poles now. Drunk lads. So far the royals are not beheaded yet... I'm waiting. *evil grin*

I think I'm going to plan out my books as well. I used to be a mood reader too, and I impulsively checked out books at the library. I think now, with all these challenges I'm joining, I'm going to plan it out, so I can get all my books in one trip to the bookstore or library.

message 27: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yeah, I wish I could read the books I get from the library more often, and not just let them sit around in my room until after they're due. It would help SO much with challenges.

message 28: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments A plan. Got to have a plan. Ok. I'm on this! In a little while. Ah, tonight. Maybe tomorrow. This year for sure. LOL!

I liked it not loved it. I was put off by the bad nature of the girl in the beginning. but the more I thought about it... that is how I was and how true to a certain young girl nature that many books have not even attempted to show.

I did not continue with the series... I was thinking this year I should see what happens beyond the first book.

It was kind of one of my resolutions to get to this series, and the Vampire Academy series too. They've both been on my TBR too long! I've heard the Wicked Lovely series gets better though, so we'll see...

Up next for me is probably going to be The Future of Us by Jay Asher . I've been reading lots of paranormal lately, so I need some contemporary.
