I signed up for Book Chick City's UF and Horror challenge, to help with the second goal. I am starting to think that it is doomed. Today I have downloaded 3 Amazon freebies. Oh well. At least I didn't buy any books. ( Mostly because I turned off my CC yesterday. It is a good thing I don't have an e-reader with Wifi. *cough*)

I am SO going to be reading Delicate Freakin' Flower this year, too! I swear I think I own every book she's written, short novellas that they are. Have you read Dating Cupid? It's been my favorite so far.

Nope. Delicate Freakn' Flower was the first of her books I read. I'll definitely buy more of her books, though. I am really tempted to buy The Geek job since it is only 0.99 right now at Smashwords.

Every book lover is a book pusher. I have been pushing people to read Lazette Gifford, since I just love her books. I have no idea if it works or not *g*. But I am glad that I made you spend money, since I know that if I head over to Smashwords I'll buy all the books in my cart. sigh. Which is sorta counterproductive, since the goal is to create a big dent in the Unread pile. Not add to it...

I try not to keep books in my cart. But if I do and I don't buy it asap...I only buy it if I can remember why it's there...

I gave in and purchased The Geek Job. The first book I have purchased since Boxing Day. Woot! I haven't made a big dent in the unread pile, though. I have been too busy reading Allison Brennan's backlist ( I love the library ). It is funny, there are two authors I want to do a backlist glomp on : Allison Brennan, and Eve Langlais. What can I say, I have an ecclectic taste.

And Everything comes to a screeching halt when I manage to break my Sony ( caught in a starting up loop), and lose my wallet. The same day. *headdesk*.
Oh well, in the mean time I'll just read something else.

Maybe get a headstart with the re-reading goals.

I found the wallet, but the e-reader is still broken. But the e-reader is minor... ( I will probably disagree in February when I am itching to read an e-book. LOL)

I'm so sorry to hear about your reader. I was so sad when my reader broke.

I have a working e-reader again. Thanks to Mark and Ashjuk I managed to break the loop. Yay! Now I just need to figure out what to read next.

Mikaela, can I ask you about your experience with The Gods of Dream? I'm not finding it to be too enjoyable...

I liked it, but there were parts that I wished he had cut. Yes, I understand that Nightmare is bleak, but after awhile the parts in there felt never ending.

But I viewed it as a fairy tale which helped, I think.

I'm actually having a major issue with his writing as a whole. The characterization feels...forced and it gives me a...decided lack of empathy towards them. I don't feel sympathetic towards the main characters and I know I should. The dialogue feels choppy and immature...and I'm feeling that this should have been structured towards YA/MG crowd rather than adults.

I don't know...maybe I don't have the correct mindset for this one. I was expecting something closer to Narnia (my all time favorite) and I see the Narnia inspiration but... it's starting to look like a DNF for me. I'm kinda upset about this because I really wanted to like this book. I purchased and got a copy of it while it was free on Amazon...

BTW, I swear I need to stay off your thread! I need to save money, not spend money,lol.

I read 5 books in two days. All of them good :D.
Which sounds more impressing than it was, since 3 of them were less than 150 words. Still, it sliced off a bit on the unread list.

I decided to start re-reading the Celta novels, and I finished finished reading HeartMate by Robin D Owens a couple of days ago.

I decided to give Warrior by Zoe Archer another try, and it was really good. And I have book 2 on my Sony, and book 3 and 4 from the library. *grins*

The Non fiction goal is moving slowly... But I have started :).

I went on Shiloh Walker binge last night. It was an attempt to *not* buy If You See her immediately after finishing If you hear her. ( Honestly. That book.. I still have goosebumps.) Well.. I postponed it with 12 hours.

I understand. I'm trying to read Everything I Know About Love I Learned from Romance Novels and I keep getting sidetracked by the books she mentions. I've been trying to talk myself out of buying Talk Me Down for about 24 hours now...and I think I'm starting to loose.

I have been in a reading slump lately, which shows on my blog. A lot of book pushing posts, but not many reviews. But I am hoping that I am getting out of it soon.

If you recommend Urban Fantasy, I recommend that you check out Matchbox Girls by Chrysoula Tzavelas.

I have sliced off 7 books or something from my unread pile the last two days. Actually, it is 9 if you count the two DNF.
One was Weight of blood by David Dalgiesh. The writing was decent, but I lost my interest when they started murdering children.
The second DNF finish was The Secret of Ahbor valley, a Public Domain novel I downloaded from Mobileread. I might get back to this one, though. I am not sure.

I made a decision this weekend: Free reads that I feel meh about will be culled from my Calibre library. (If I change my mind I can always re-download them from Amazon.) Which should slice off the Unread pile quite a bit.

That's a good idea. I've just given up and read random bits & pieces right now...

I am seriously consider stop purchasing e-books until August or something. I have enough unread e-books to last me until then.

And maybe Afictionado have announced their subscription fees by then. ( That's my hope for 2013, that Afictionado is available.)

*looks around for hidden Kobo employees* Well. Uhm. I sorta changed my mind. But it is all Kobo's fault. They offered so good coupons! And all the books were at my Wishlist, so I would have bought them sooner or later. The four first e-books: Normally 12 dollar each. The total cost for them: 8 dollar .:D

Yep. I'm frustrated by pricing too. Hello paper, hello library.

My wishlist of about 20 books would cost me about $300 in e-book format and $200 in paper. Not much of a decision if you ask me.

I just finished Crazy for you by Jennifer Crusie. And decided that it might be a good idea to re-download Getting Rid of Bradley as e-pub ( I have it as pdf) but I cannot find it in my library at Kobo or Allromance. Well, guess I'll have to rebuy it with a good fictionwise coupon :(.

:) Yes. Crazy for you is one of my favorite Crusie novels.

I have had internet problems lately, but I got my internet fixed just in time to snag up an Cybook Odessey, ( or as Adlibris calls it: Letto) for 150 dollar. Should arrive either on Friday, or on Monday.

Refurbishment??

I know, I know. I have neglected this tread this summer. And I will have to keep on neglecting it, since my harddrive crashed last week. sigh.

I am starting project clean out the TBR pile, which means I give a book 50 pages to hook me, if not I delete it. Which should clear out the TBR pile fast.

I read an brief, but very welcome, article earlier today. Sometime next year, Harlequin will be available at Swedish libraries. :D. I don't really care about the category romances, but I have a bunch of MIRA titles on my wishlist, and plenty of those are translated to swedish. ( I refuse to 10 dollar for a Swedish e-book when I can get the English edition for 3-5 dollar.)

I get excited when my friends across the pond ship me fantasy books before US releases.

I just discovered that St Martin plans to re-issue Christmas at Friday Harbour by Lisa Kleypas, under the title Christmas with Holly. The only change is the Title, a sticker announcing it is now a Hallmark movie, and the new 9.99 price... Uhm. It makes sense that they change the title to match the movie, but I don't understand why a they raise the price. ( In their defence, the cover clearly say it has been previously published as Christmas at Friday Harbour)

I would file that under the "not paying attention tax" guide to marketing.

:D. I am extatic right now. I have a ton of books that I want to get rid off. And... I just discovered BookMooch, which is a bookswapping site open to overseas readers. The books I send gives me points, which I can use to get some of the pricier romance books on my wishlist.
( The only drawback is that I pay the shipping for the books I send... Oh well.)

How get the TBR pile under control:
Add the page count plugin, and realise that 70 of the 300 unread books are under 200 pages. And that of those 70 books 30 is below 50 pages. Guess what I am doing tomorrow?

I think the real name is Count Pages. I just discovered it, but it is a huge help when it comes to knowing how long a book is. :)
