Krista (findyourshimmy) | 13 comments In another thread, someone mentioned GetJar to be able to download the Nook app to the Kindle Fire. I'm just wondering what, exactly, is GetJar. And what does the Nook app do? Is it the one that allows you to read any book in B&N for free while you're in the store? Does it offer free or reduced daily deals like Amazon?

As a new Kindle Fire owner, I'm eager to soak up as much wisdom and goodies as I can. Many thanks in advance!

Monica (nutz4reading) | 55 comments Okay. I am going to ttg this GetJar. I have the nook app on my phone and would love to be able to read those books on my fire instead of my phone. I am having trouble finding the nook app.

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 13 comments Follow up question... If I had the Nook app, would friends who have the Nook be able to lend their books to me via the app?

message 5: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 55 comments I still haven't found the Nook app.

message 6: by Krista (new)

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 13 comments I haven't yet downloaded GetJar so I'm not sure about even how to guide you for looking for the Nook app. If/when I do, I'll be sure to let you know, Monica.

Monica (nutz4reading) | 55 comments I have downloaded the app and searched for nook and it doesn't come up.

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 13 comments Candy, you have been so very helpful. Thank you for your continued patience and assistance. You are much appreciated.

I seem to be experiencing the same trouble as Monica. I visited GetJar.com and looked through the apps. I tried search for Nook and for Barnes & Noble with no luck. Is it called the Nook app?

I'm also then wondering how you get GetJar onto your Kindle. I didn't see it in the Amazon App store.

Bridget I found Nook for Android in the "top" apps category.

Monica (nutz4reading) | 55 comments I believe I downloaded the getjar app from the web browser but I still haven't seen the nook app. I will go again to the getjar.com on the web and download the getjar app and see it anything different happens.

Now when I am on the web on my tablet it takes me to the mobile site. Does that make a difference?

message 11: by Monica (new)

Monica (nutz4reading) | 55 comments Well I went through all the top apps and it wasn't there. I even tried searching for it and I get ebay. Could they have possibly removed the Nook App?

And thanks Candy for your help.

Monica (nutz4reading) | 55 comments Thank you Candy.

Krista (findyourshimmy) | 13 comments Thanks for searching and finding, Candy. I did find the app through Handango. It's giving me some grief about downloading to my PC. I'll see about trying the file manager through the app store and see what I can do.

Your time and assistance was/is much appreciated!

Monica (nutz4reading) | 55 comments Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Candy. I had no problem downloading the app as PC. After I downloaded it I went to my notifications and there was the nook. I tapped it and it asked me if I wanted to install the app. I installed it and now I have my books from B&N on my Kindle Fire.

I am thrilled to have almost all the apps from my iPhone also on my Kindle Fire. I have downloaded the Kobo app, a comics app, and the Nook app.

Thanks again Candy. The same as what Krista said above. I am now very happy with owning the Kindle Fire.

Sheila (sheilaj) Has anyone tried getting an app from Android Market and putting it on their Fire? How exactly do you do that without having a second android device? When I go to the market the apps either have install underneath them or buy. How the heck do I get it installed on the Fire. There has to be a way.

Sheila (sheilaj) I found this tutorial for using getjar to get non-Amazon Android apps. It is directed toward getting the Nook app but just substitute the name of the app you want and it downloads direct to your Fire. I did it and now have a new fun game app called Early Bird.

You pretty much have to have an Android phone to download from the Android Market and other places.

Sheila (sheilaj) Actually if you go to dropbox.com and download the android app and if you have a dropbox account (2GB os storage is free) you can download apps from getjar and 1mobile and move them off the fire via USB and it becomes like the Amazon cloud. By using the dropbox app from your fire you can access your files and by clicking on them they will install on the fire.
