Kevin Waggoner (crazybass33) Good day and Happy News Years Eve! I have just finished reading "The daughter of Time," by Josephine Tey. I've been working my way through Proust's "Swann's Way," and "Dewey." I plan on starting "The death of Ivan Ilyich," by Tolstoy as well as whatever book this group starts in January. I am looking forward to the discussion and being apart of this group. Have a safe new years and Happy New Year!

Sebastiaan Klink Happy new year! Proust, Tolstoy.. I think you 'll have no problem getting through the list! I've just joined and counted 19 books that i've read of this list including Gullivers travels and Alice. Most if them, like Orwell, were on my reading list in highschool.
Looking forward though on reading some more...
Cheers

Ashley the Magnificent™ (ashleythemagnificent) | 17 comments I haven't been active in this group for a few months and I can't believe how much it's grown! How wonderful to see so many people up to the task of reading great literature!

I'm very disappointed in my progress on this list in 2011 (I got sidelined by some very introspective and well-written tomes with half-naked men on the cover. heehee) and I vow - here and now! - to read every book on this list in 2012!

Would you believe half of them?

How about 5?

Maybe I'll just join you on The Color Purple and we'll go from there...

It's a series of letters between a writer Juliet and the pen pals she makes from the Guernsey Islands.

I just finished reading it and I liked the book a lot! It was a refreshing change from all the books I've been reading lately. Granted, it's not a compulsive page turner, but I found the stories and the characters extremely endearing and warm.

A cozy read with some inspiring parts as well. Do it read it Mandee :)
