For me its a 3 way tie between Katniss from The Hunger Games, Tris from Divergent and Saba from Blood Red Road :)

Yea to me she doesn't really start showing her strengths until much later in the books

Hm... that's a tough one. I'd have to go with Cimorene from the enchanted forest chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede. Dealing with Dragons

Although Hermione is a close second.

I'd love to say Katniss because I love the book series but to me, it seems like half the things that happened for the better in the series weren't really her doing. She just sat around and felt bad for herself a lot of the time, a lot of the things that happened were by chance in her favor. Therefore my favorites would have to be Tris from Divergent and Hermione.

I would have to say no offense to Cammie but Bex is way cooler and Abby rocks, oh and Clair of the morganville vampires is pretty outstanding for being sixteen and shy.

Not a big fan of Annabeth, to be honest.

Haven't read that many YA novels, nut I have to say - Katniss Everdeen is my favourite heroine, Tris from Divergent and Lena from Delirium both come second!

Hermione Granger is awesome! I dressed as her for Halloween two years in a row;)

Annabeth and Hazel from some of the Rick Riordan books are great, too.

Also, Juli Baker from Flipped is wonderful and she is great at standing up for herself and her beliefs and others.

I've only seen the movie for Flipped, but she was so cool! Hermione is awesome, obviously.
