2025 Reading Challenge discussion

This is a challenge that a few members are already doing so I thought I would share with everyone.

New to You Author Challenge

The idea is to read books by Authors that you have never read before. Sometimes as readers, we get stuck on the same authors and not stray away and experience others. Now here is your change.

~pick how many books you want to include in this challenge.
~add a thread either here or in your member's corner.
~List your books as a link as well as a link to the authors page on GR
~when finished rate the book.

It will be interesting to get recommendations and see what everyone else is reading.

example:

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia

You add the author the same way you add the book, by the "add book/author" button above the tx box.

I am in on this one as well, it's good to experience new things! That said, I have so many books by authors I've read that I really want to read... So I will say 20 like Johanna, I think that is an attainable goal :)

Not sure how many new authors I'm going to read but I'm going to keep track and go out of my way to read new people. :)

Wow, that's a huge goal but best of luck! I tend to stick with the same authors so it would be way hard for me to try to find 50 new authors. (:"

I usually read a new author every time I get a book. I only have a couple of favorites but I don't read them all the time.

I'm in for this - 52 new authors :)

Soo, we have some new joiners for the challenge, and some of us has already gotten 1-2 new authors read and it´s only the fourth day of the year! Here´s what the list looks like at the moment (I haven´t looked up to everyones members corner yet so something might be missing):

I myself am starting my second book that´ll fit for this challenge and I am counting on it being more enjoyable than the previous..

ok I may need to adjust this. My total is 50 and I am not sure that I want to devote almost half of it to New Authors. Sorry I have some Favs that I HAVE to read!!! maybe I will shoot for......lets say 10.

I'm in for this one too. My goal is to read 12 new authors in 2012. I'll be keeping track in Members Corner.

Ok, I've already read 1 new author, currently reading a 2nd new author. I see 20-25 new authors on my TBR list. So, I'll try for the 52 new authors!

I tried to read that as my first for the year but I just could't get into it. You'll have to let me know what you think about it.

I just finished reading my 2nd new to me author - Sally Bedell Smith's book, Elizabeth the Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch.

I'm really enjoying this challenge. Although I'm mostly sticking to science fiction, I'm planning on branching out into other genres at some point!

I've never read one nor have I ever heard of someone reading a western.

I have 9 new authors. The last one was Becca Fitzpatrick with her book Hush, Hush.

I've seen it before I think but didn't know what it was about.

I finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett today, so I am at two new authors now! I will soon start to read Oliver Twist as well, Dickens will be new for me as well :)

Like you Johanna, I finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett who was a new author for me, so I am now at 1/20 for this challenge!

Welcome Ashley and good luck! You can post your new authors here, but I also update everyone´s number weekly or so by looking through people´s member corner.. But definitely would be nice to hear about the real good new authors you find! :)

I'm not really that into mystery. Well...sometimes but only if it catches my eye. And this one has. I'm glad you liked it so I could get it!

As an arbitrary number I just came up with on the spot, I'll go for... 18 new-to-me authors this year.

Err, scratch that, I am not leader of this challenge, Johanna is. How I got it confused with the This is Your Life challenge is beyond me, but I am going to put it down to being here reading posts when I really should have been watching a chocolate sauce on the stove!

The Emerald Talisman by Brenda Pandos. Good book that I rated 4/5

Wildflowers Come Back by Sarah Spann. I really liked this book. I rated it a strong 4.5/5.

I finished The Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis and gave it 4 stars. Complete review is in my Personal Challenge folder, but I really liked it. I've now read 2/20 new authors!
