Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments Which country is Buddha in the attic?

message 5: by Lori (new)

Lori Goldstein Thanx for catching that. It's set in San Francisco, but I just started it and reading of their boat trip. Will change to another title immediately.

While we're talking about countries in the 12 x 12 for 2012 I have chosen travel which said the books are set in places you want to visit. Can it be in the USA and/or a foreign country? Plus city, country or tourist attraction?

message 6: by Mad Scientist (new)

Mad Scientist (madscientist) | 1119 comments All of the above.

I even have a roadtrip book picked out to go in that section. Not one particular place, More about the act of travel.

Lori Goldstein FEBRUARY 2012 (Monthly Challenge)
Did not come even close to this one as I had other books I REALLY needed to read b

Instead of reading books that fit certain cover categories, what about genres?

Choose two genres that you don't read a lot of on a normal basis. Read two books in each genre. When you finish, start again! Use the same genres, or pick new ones. Grant yourself 2 points for each book you finish. Total points at the end of the month will get to make up the March Challenge! :)

Classics (I have 100 preloaded on my KOBO (Got two weeks prior to Borders went belly up)
1. Emma by Jane Austen
2. The Secret Adversary by Agatha Christie

Fantasy
1. Enchanted Glass by Diana Wynne Jones
2. Undecided as of 2/7/12

Lori Goldstein MARCH 2012 (Monthly Challenge)

Got 2/4 of this one completed.

MUSIC: A former co-worker who was one tough cookie passed away recently. Mrs. Kang taught both regular band as well as Jazz band and Jazz Combo. In her memory will read at least one book dealing with Jazz music. (Not made this month, but am adding it to my "April" reads)

The rest of the "themes" I'm going to see what book plots and/or covers I can work in.

PATRIOTISM: Red, White or Blue on the Cover (2/3)
The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick by Brian Selznick

FAMILY (Plot centers on a "family" and/or siblings exclusively):
The Christmas Wedding by James Patterson

SPRING (Floral Arrangements or Spring type items on the cover):
Hope to get into it next month.

Lori Goldstein APRIL CHALLENGE
Again, you will choose your own challenge. However, since a quarter of the year has passed, the challenge is completely up to you! (Ex. 8 books, 1000 pages, etc.) Point of this month's challenge is to help push us towards that yearly goal even more!

<>

Sounds like a GREAT idea Jennifer. What I'll be doing is read at least 3 books from my collection as I'm in the middle of 2 or 3 library books (Hardback and/or E-Books)
