Sue | 1296 comments Every book so far this year has 'claimed' a letter! The latest The Rose Garden was part of the read around UK challenge for Cornwall. Enjoyable story involving pirates and time travel!

message 3: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments S The Blank Wall. Story about a woman left alone whilst husband on WW2 duty. She confounds her teenage children and things get out of hand when she tries to protect her family.

message 4: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments T Salmon Fishing in the Yemen Bureaucracy gone mad meets an impossible dream. Loved it!

message 5: by Sue (last edited Feb 07, 2012 12:04PM) (new)

Sue | 1296 comments F Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet Really interesting history of Seattle regarding the Japanese community.

message 6: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments A The Good Life Interesting diary account of a couple who leave the safety of Cornwall for the Yukon.

B Finders Keepers Abduction on Exmoor - think they did right to go to the Yukon!!

message 7: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments R Property of A Lady. Enjoyable ghost story intertwined with modern couple. Scary in parts. Have ordered another book by the author.

message 8: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments L A Cold Season Horror set on the moors in West Yorkshire - snowed in on the moor. Not my favourite genre.

message 9: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments W The Pleasures of Men Didn't really enjoy this novel set in Victorian England with a damaged young lady and the fear of a Jack the Ripper type figure. It was, however, strong on historical detail.

message 10: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments C The Professor's House a three part novel beautifully developed but at the same time much too short!

message 11: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments E A Cupboard Full of Coats is a very sad story of a woman coming to terms with the murder of her mother.

message 12: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments O The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox is set in India and Edinburgh. Esme has been sent to a mental institution as a child. When the home is due to close a young relative, Isabel, is asked to look after her. Family secrets unravel.

message 13: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments I The Snow Child is based on a Russian folk tale set in Alaska. Beautiful descriptions of both landscape and the people who live there.

message 14: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments N Phantom Harry Hole investigation. Scandicrime. Excellent.

message 15: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments Z The Marriage Bureau for Rich People Long time before adding an extra letter. On the face of it a simple story but so much of Indian Society is described in a few words. Really enjoyed the book.

Sue | 1296 comments J The Uninvited Guests - Sadie Jones.

Q Blessings - Anna Quindlen. Interesting story but I had to keep rereading as the past was told alongside the 'action'. Would like to read more by the author. Perhaps for Q nest year!

message 18: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments U,V and X all on order at the library. Just hope I get to read them by the end of December. Are we going to carry on in 2013?

message 22: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments X Xinran - What the Chinese Don't Eat Where would we be without Xinran? This is a collection of her newspaper columns. Fascinating insight into both chinese society and the culture clash.
