1. The Pawn by Steven James
I don't read too many Crime Thrillers, but this one was pretty good, although a bit gruesome. It was the first in a series, so might continue with the series at a later date.

2. Ice Station by Matthew Reilly
This book was non-stop action from beginning to end. Definitely on to the next in the series.

I like both of these. I the subject matter is still pretty dark, but I think the books following The Pawn are a bit milder than the Pawn.

I really did enjoy the characters in The Pawn. I think I will read the next in the series to hear more about Tess, if for no other reason...she was definitely my favorite. Good to know the rest might be a little "milder"

Yes, Ice Station was right up my alley...just what I like in my A/A books. Just starting Area 7...hoping it is just as good.

I enjoyed Area 7. It was different from Ice Station, in a good way, but also crazy action.

Tess is great, and she's even better (more air time I guess) in the next book. She's my favorite too. Patrick's cool but he's flawed in a way that bugs me (on purpose I think, so I guess that means I like the character.) He's the Paladin who can do no wrong... and that mean's his famliy (tess in this case) cannot trust him to understand when they screw up. It's not his fault, and he gets better. But I digress.

I'm glad you liked the books and Temple is another good Matthew Riley book.

I actually read Temple a while back...the only other Matthew Reilly book I have read. Although I did enjoy it, I much preferred Ice Station...I think mainly because of the characters again...Scarecrow Mother, and of course Wendy, among my favorites.

On another note, I'm really excited to read Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I just received it from the kindle lending library and have heard great things about the series. I seem to have too many series going at once...can't keep up!

Lisa, the Dresden files is a good series. Some don't like the first book as much, but like the later books. I hope you enjoy it.

Fool Moon (Dresden #2) is better than STorm Front. I'm a dresden fan (I'm just reading them slowly.)

3. Area 7 by Matthew Reilly
I really enjoyed this second book of the (Shane Schofield) series, but not quite as much as the first. I felt that the action, although great in quantity, was a little harder to follow with all the elevators, tunnels, levels, etc. I think my favorite scene was the Harbour Bridge...gotta love those Maghooks!

I enjoyed Area 7 alot. The only problem was the diagrams the are dotted throughout the book were impossible to read on my Kindle version and although you can increase the font size it doesn't increase the picture size.

I think that was my problem as well. I read on the Kindle too, and it was also difficult to flip back and forth to the diagrams all the time. I still LOVE my Kindle though!!!

I will definitely read it soon, but I have a few others I am going to get through first...Too many books to read, not enough time :) I think I have almost 400 books on my "to read" list now...too crazy!

4. Storm Front by Jim Butcher
It took me a while to get into this one, but by the second half I was enjoying it. I do believe the series has potential. I think I need a break from A/A for a while though...it might be time to read a little bit from my other favorite genre...historical fiction. I'm still waiting for the Firstreads book I won, The Crown, to arrive.

5. Hounded by Kevin Hearne
This book was not quite what I expected (but in a good way). Looking forward to the next in the series. Thanks UF friends for recommending this one.

Hounded was pretty different in a good way. I liked it a lot. I bought all three books in the series.

Not sure if this one really fits under Action/Adventure, but I am going to list in anyway.

6. The Unsung Hero by Suzanne Brockmann. I think this one had a little more romance than action, but still a good read. I enjoyed the secondary characters of Mallory (aka Nightshade) and David best of all. Will definitely read the next one in this series.

I loved Reilly's Ice Station the best. I also liked Greig Beck's Beneath the Dark Ice. Scary action all the way! x

Lisa, I do count the Troubleshooter books as action. Actually one of the things I like best about the books.

If you want to go for an Artic Tri-fecta read James Rollins Ice Hunt. It's a fun, read!

I liked Jenny from Ice Hunt. She's a co-heroine with a bunch of heroes and at least two other females. And Washburn must be Mother's Sister (From Ice Station).

On many occasions I enjoy the secondary characters much more than the main characters.

7. Black Ice by Anne Stuart. I think this one is more romantic suspense, but did have quite a bit of action as well. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be reading the next in the series.

I'm glad you liked it, Lisa. I love Anne Stuart's books.

8. The Defiant Hero by Suzanne Brockmann. I'm really enjoying this series.

9. The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry. Another book about the so-called missing Templar treasures. I did enjoy the mystery of it...kind of had a Da Vinci Code feel to it. This was my first book by this author, and I will definitely read another.

10. Lost in Shangri-la by Mitchell Zuckoff. This was my first non-fiction book in a while, but it had the feel of an action adventure novel. It is the true story about the crash of a plane full of military soldiers, out on a sightseeing trip over New Guinea, during World War II. The crash occurred in an extremely remote valley in New Guinea, which made the rescue very difficult. The story is about the survival and eventual rescue of some of those soldiers. The rescue was the most ingenious (and dangerous) attempt I have ever heard about. I don't want to give it away though and spoil the adventure.

That book sounds good. There's an NPR story on it I heard and it sounded very interesting. For another good book maybe Even Silence Has an End: My Six Years of Captivity in the Colombian Jungle is pretty good too. (by Ingrid Betancourt)

They interviewed her (Ingrid Beancourt) some BBC network. I wish I could find the interview I listened to before I bought the book. Very moving.

11. Bloodline: A Sigma Force Novel by James Rollins. I did enjoy this 8th book in James Rollin's Sigma Force Series...But I must admit that it is my least favorite of the bunch. It was fast-paced and action-packed just like I like. I really enjoyed the two new characters, Tucker and Kane immensely, as well as the inclusion of Kat and Lisa back into the action. The characters are one of the things that I find so enjoyable about James Rollins books. I think it was just the subject matter of the storyline this time that I wasn't as drawn to as in his other books that made it my least favorite. Overall it was still a fun read as usual!(less)

12. Wool Omnibus Edition by Hugh Howey. I just realized I forget to add this awesome book to this list. All I can say is WOW!...Great book! It's one of those books that you can't really talk about without giving anything away...If you like Science Fiction that takes place in an apocalyptic or dystopian future (or even if you don't), then just go read it!!! Basic storyline is a community of people living in a silo and never being able to go outside. They have been told through generations that it is unsafe and they are not allowed to even talk about it. If they get caught mentioning in any way about wanting to go outside, they get exactly what they ask for...permanently! That's about all I can say without spoiling the story.

I have it, I want to read it, but all I know right now is the author has a very distinguished and intelligent sounding first name.

I really enjoyed it...would love to hear what you all think once you read it. I really love the story behind the author as well. Just a self-published short story on Amazon for 99 cents, which eventually turned into the 500+ page Omnibus Edition, because of such an overwhelming fan following who asked the author for MORE of the story...And all of it written over a few months. I hear a movie is already in the works as well. A real writer success story I'd say!

Yes, lucky that my library has them all for kindle lending. I think the one I am reading now Gone Too Far, is my favorite so far.

That's my favorite too. Love Sam! Actually most of her heroes are awesome.

I'm really enjoying learning about Sam's childhood...his friend Noah, Uncle Walt and Dot. It explains a lot about who he is. All of her heroes are awesome...but I do have a soft spot for Sam.
