Touch of Power
question
What is it about Kerrick?

So I've spoken to some people and they all say they don't like Kerrick at all. What is it about him that people don't like? I think he is ok once you get to know him.

I like Kerrick now, at the beginning of the book i was ready to slap him but after a bit i warmed up to him like Avery did :D
I'm sorry to say this but I hated him..he hit Avery soo hard she fell down all just because she disagreed with him.. there was no need for it.. then he manacles her to a tree night after night without a blanket and with little food.. the way he treated her was despicable not sexy or powerful.. I like alpha heroes but he crossed the line to a**hole hero..I might have been able to forgive him if he had redeemed himself, but in my eyes he didn't and even at the end when he found out that healing the prince would mean she died..she asked if it would have made any difference and he basically says no, he would have still asked her to heal the prince knowing she would die but he wouldn't have pushed her as hard.. so he basically chose his friend over the woman he supposedly loves. It also seemed that his ex was the love of his life the way he was grieving over her and how for 4yrs after the break up it was still affecting him. I like it when the hero has only ever loved the heroine, if the hero has loved someone before I want the heroine to have loved before as well..I also didn't like Kerrick's reaction when she was dying, it was so underwhelming - there was no anguish, torment or passion - he just seemed a tad upset.
I know not everyone will agree with me, but that was I took away from Kerrick's and Avery's relationship. Kerrick actually made me hate the book..If he hadn't hit her, treated her poorly and instead shown that she meant more to him than the prince, I would have loved the book.
I absolutely loved Valek, his and Yelena's relationship is a fave of mine.. I thought Kerrick and Avery would be just as good, if not better - so I was truly disappointed reading ToP. Kerrick will have to do a lot and I mean a LOT to prove himself worthy in the next book.
Sorry for the long rant:P

I think we still don't know him. Kerrick has build up a wall between him and the rest of the world. That way he won't ever be hurt like before. At the end of ToP you see that bits of the wall he's build are falling apart. He's showing emotion, he's accepting his feelings!
I think we all might fall in love with him in the next installment of the Healer series. But right now, not so much...
