What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

The parts I recall the most aren't even the main plot. There is a traveling bard named Jocelyn (or some spelling) who goes from castle to castle, and ultimately he does play a larger role at the end of the book, though I can't remember exactly what.

He is a seducer of women and loves them all, and they love him. He's tall dark and handsome. THe main heroine is treated badly by the men in her life and I think there was also another jealous female... anyways back to Jocelyn the bard..

The lord of the castle enjoys beating his women. One servant in particular Jocelyn falls in love with, and he finds her broken body after she jumped from the lords window in an attempt to escape his abuse. Jocelyn hides her above the stable and nurses her back to health, only to be betrayed by two serving wenches who are jealous. I think he might even die at the end, but I can't remember.

I've been trying to find out what this book is for close to 15 years now!

hmmm, it sounds familiar. let me look at my shelves. no guarantee though. I've read many more books than what's on my shelves through the years. was it a secondary romance?

Haven't found it yet but I'm thinking it may have been Jude Deveraux.

See, I keep thinking it might be one of hers but I have yet to find it. I can't remember who the publisher was, I was thinking "maybe" avon romances?

I have most of her books so I'll go flip through pages in a bit and see if it is ☺

YES! Oh thats SO weird. The Velvet series is my all time favorite of any I've ever read, esp Stephen and Bronwyn. I haven't read them in so long, and I have them here.. thank you! Bet you can guess what i'll be doing!
