MixMag just announced the Best Dance Act of All Time - an award that was voted on by the fans, not some committee - and it's The Prodigy. Totalllllly well-deserved. Read more and hear them speak briefly to say thanks to the fans for this recognition:

I don't know about the rest of you, but when I'm writing, I need music and not just any music, but HIGH ENERGY music. I have about a dozen techno, electronica, industrial and Goth bands I love but Prodigy's one of my favorites from way back - an oldie that never loses their electric magic. Voodoo People still gets me bouncing (and check out this crowd from the live 2011 performance!) warning: foul language ahead ;-)
Despite being together over 20 years, these lewd Britons also still make me laugh whenever they're interviewed on the road (every frakkin time, Liam cracks me the *bleep* up, I swear, he doesn't know how to NOT laugh) and anytime I put ANY of their music on, I am dancing in my chair Yep, it's hard to write while I'm bouncing around but I could never write fast-paced action or killing without their help.
The tour's hitting the UK now, I think. The Warrior's Dance Tour is mostly the latest album Invaders Must Die (2010) but they always do what the crowd wants. Hard to believe these guys are like 40 something and still cranking in 20,000+ fans of the 20 something age group. But hey, why not?! They've held my attention since I first saw the original Breathe video on MTV in 1994 (the one that spawned Metallica's Sandman video actually - neeto trivia eh?)
