With the first read-a-thon of the year winding down, great job to all who participated!!

How has your reading week been? Did you get to read as much as you expected to? More? Less?

How many books did you get done? How do your stats look?

For a general outline:
- Number of books? Pages? Audiobooks? Hours listened?
- List of books
- Minichallenges
- Best reading day?

Nadine | 252 comments I really enjoyed this reading week with you. I involuntarily read a mix of shallow books like the shopaholic stuff (which I both love and hate)and two books with the grave theme of holocaust, both set in concentration camps. Inspired by those I also started reading the biography of Josef Mengele, but I am not far into it yet.
I read 4 full books:
Shopaholic Ties the Knot
Ich habe den Todesengel überlebt: Ein Mengele-Opfer erzählt
The Devil's Arithmetic
Shopaholic and Sister
finished one I had started before the marathon
Murder at the Vicarage (only about 1/3 read within the marathon)
and started 4 I haven't finished yet:
Der Junge, der Träume schenkte: Roman
Lies Beneath
The Whipping Club
Josef Mengele.
My best reading day was the Sunday as this tedious habit of going to work didn't interfere with my reading plus I read a book with not a lot of text per page, so I managed 418 pages, which is a lot for me. (Slow reader.)
I am looking forward to the next readathon and will have a look at the minichallenges next month.
PS: I read 1635 pages in total.

Barbara ★ My best day was saturday when I could devote most of the day to my greatest pleasure...reading! I expected to finish one more book but I just couldn't get into the book I chose on Friday and went to bed after 109 pages.

I read for a total of 46 hours which includes listening to an audiobook during my commute. A total of 2826 pages were completed.

7 books were read in totality:
Hit List
Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception
Quicksilver
The Falling Machine
Be Still My Vampire Heart
The Demon Trapper's Daughter
X Isle

2 Books still in Progress:
Those in Peril (audio)
Have Your Cake and Kill Him Too

I did not participate in the mini-challenges this month since my list of books for January didn't fit any of the challenges.

Nadine | 252 comments Wow, Barbara, 2826 pages, that is really great!

message 5: by Amy (new)

Amy I focused on audiobooks this week and ended up listening to a bunch.

Books in progress at start of read-a-thon that I completed:

Graceling - 4 disks
Divergent - 3 disks
The Night Eternal - 3 disks
My Bonny Light Horseman: Being an Account of the Further Adventures of Jacky Faber, in Love and War - 4 disks

Books I started and completed:
Blowback - 12 disks
Private: #1 Suspect - 6 disks
Explosive Eighteen - 5 disks

Books I started but have not yet finished:

Dreams of Joy - 3 disks
The Maze Runner - 6 disks

All told, this was about 2200 pages (rough estimate). I didn't do a 24-hour marathon; mostly I listened while watching the Australian Open throughout the week. As you can see, there was a lot of tennis on tv...LOL

All of the books except Private: #1 Suspect and Dreams of Joy counted toward the mini-challenges. I ended up with 37 total points, which includes books completed earlier this month.

I had planned to read, rather than listen to, a couple of books later in the week, but got a work assignment that killed that plan, unfortunately.

message 6: by LynnB (new)

LynnB Saturday/Sunday:
259 pages of The Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follett
610 pages - Believing the Lie, Elizabeth George
Monday:
293 pages - Forgotten Country, Catherine Chung
Tuesday:
218 pages - One Small Sparrow, Jeff Leeland
Wednesday/Thursday:
736 pages - Rick Steves' Germany 2011 with map, Rick Steves
Friday
378 pages - Elizabeth Street, by Laurie Fabiano

TOTAL pages: 2394

I didn't track time reading because I pick up and put down books often enough that it would have been too hard to remember to do each time.

Ann A (readerann) Final Summary

Total pages: 1041
Still hoping to reach 2000 pages one of these times (like several of you did - way to go!)

Books started earlier,finished in Readathon:
The Night Circus
Anne of Green Gables
Knots and Crosses

Read completely in Readathon:
Half Life

Still in progress:
The Fellowship of the Ring (audiobook)
Hercule Poirot's Christmas
The Earth is Enough

My best day was the last one (285 pages) but I didn't exactly "burn up the pages" this week - partly because I'm also a tennis nut and watched a lot of The Australian Open.

I didn't do any of the mini-challenges this month because I'm involved with a bunch of challenges in another group.

Great job, everybody! I look forward to seeing you all again in March!

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Reached my book goal, but didn't quite make the pages. Better luck next time! :)

Goals:
~3 books
~750 pages

Started before Readathon:
Clockwork Prince (65% - 80%)
Great Expectations (page 78 - 170)

Read Completely During Readathon:
Black Moon (54 pages)
Amber Moon (101 pages)
The Vampire's Assistant (241 pages)
Silver Moon (78 pages)

Total books finished: 4
Total pages/percent read: 567 pages/ 15%

What's funny is that I finished Clockwork Prince after the readathon was over :)

My best reading day was the first day, Saturday, during which I finished two complete books. The book about North Korea really slowed me down, though, because the subject matter was tough to read about, so I did not finish as many books as I had hoped. However, I am glad that I was able to meet the challenge of reading the North Korea book, so over all I was very satisfied.

This was also the most pages I ever completed in a Read-a-thon, so I am satisfied with that because it means I am getting better at meeting the challenge of participating!

Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts and your progress!

I can't wait for the next one, and will be eager to see the next set of challenges!
