Hi all! Looks like I'm the first one to arrive! So excited to be playing BSB R4 with you!

I think I already know most of you, whether we've chatted much or not. Lately, I've been a bit of a lurker (perhaps I should add "comparatively" before that?) but none of that during Bingo!! Anyway, do tell a bit about you as we're waiting for our first shelf!

I'm here (SOS) a lot 'cause of co-modding, which I do because I love hanging out here. I'm also based in Japan (US ex-pat), love reading & series, and all sorts of supes. My greatest hope at the moment is that I don't catch influenza (son has...just in time for my finals~eek! I'm on the "giving" end and don't think my students would appreciate having to come back in the middle of spring break to deal with more of that!). I've got to get back to uni stuff...trying to get it out of the way so I can savor some guilt-free reading time on Sunday! LOL!

Hi! I'm AH and this is my 3rd time playing Bingo. Yeah! I live in Montreal so I am in Eastern Time Zone. I'm a mom of 3 teenage boys, so I read to escape the mayhem at home.

Judith, good luck with your exams! I got sick, too and I'm having finals and the whole thing sucks! I'm looking forward to some fun with you all!

Who wants to be team captain? Judith, do you want the honor, since you're a co-mod and all?

I have done it before...three times, in fact. And would be VERY happy to let someone else give it a try!

It's fun~mainly, you need to keep track of all the books read, and post an announcement for Steph on the "Stamp Me!" thread. We should also keep a main list on our thread here so we know for sure what we've finished.

I could do it if no one else wants to!

Any ideas about a name?

I'll preface this by saying it has been a VERY stressful day. Spouse has succumbed to the flu...and is whiny. Very, very whiny. I'm sleeping on the couch tonight for the sake of my students~not influenza worries, it's just hard to conduct finals when you're sitting in a jail cell for MURDERING whiny spouse...

OK. So, nine. The first things even close to "nine" that came up were:
Nincumpoop (spelling??!!??)
Ninny

Neither of which is even close to good for a team name.

Ninja Babes (OK...weak, but it's almost "nine")
Nth Power
Nine Lives
Nine Muses
Cat-o'-nine-tails
To the Nines

Wikipedia says:
Nine is strongly associated with the Chinese dragon, a symbol of magic and power. There are nine forms of the dragon, it is described in terms of nine attributes, and it has nine children. It has 117 scales - 81 yang (masculine, heavenly) and 36 yin (feminine, earthly). All three numbers are multiples of 9 (9x13=117, 9x9=81, 9x4=36)[2] as well adding up individually to 9 (1+1+7=9, 8+1=9, 3+6=9).


Very cool. Especially because it has a rather different association in Japanese...

The Japanese consider 9 to be unlucky because it sounds similar to the Japanese word for "pain" or "distress" (苦 kunrei ku)

Oh, Judithe, I feel your pain. I've instituted a flu shot policy at my home, just because when men get sick it's the end of the world as we know it. When women(moms) get sick, we're still on carpool, cooking, cleaning, and childcare duty.

Hello ladies- didnt even know that I was assigned a team yet until I got the friend request! Thanks! bThis is my 1st challange, so be easy with me! But I am excited. Not that I NEED more excuse to read (when there is often more lets say pessing things to do) but lets face it, Im gonna read anyway... so why not mix it up a bit!

My name is Michelle- Shel for short- and Kharma was my beloved kittys name. I am from New England (so eastern time as well), and SHOULD be spending my spare time planning my wedding which is sched for Sept of 2012.

Ok, possibly stupid question, but where do we see the lists of books for each shelf? I have been trying to figure that one out since I signed up...lol!

What Steph usually does is that she posts the shelf name on a thread and puts a link to the shelf. You can choose your free space read as well, we usually get that out of the way as soon as possible.

What are the reuirements for the free space?

We need a team name (some ideas above, but PLEASE post more).

We need a team captain. Someone who has time to keep track of our reads, post when we qualify for a stamp, and so on.

BTW, Shel, if there is a book you want to read, and want to find out if it's on the "supernatural" shelf, which has about 13,000 plus books, go to "your" book's page. On the side, click on the button that says something like "see all shelves". If you have Windows, click "control + F" to get a search box at the bottom. Type in "supernatural" and if it's on the list of shelves on that page, it will light up. That can save you from wading through all *gulp* 269 pages...

On that note, I used it to find ...my choice for "supernatural".

It's very conveniently lined up with "free space" ~yay!

Hmmm... cant seem to find the "see all shelves" button... lucky for me there is a ton on there that are on my list!

I'd love to pass on some of the other things that are keeping me insanely busy right now to y'all as well...but I'm not that sadistic. Today was about 280 short reports, etc., plus the flu boys... In just a few more minutes, I'll be able to curl up with some hunky lords...just have to do something about the dishes in the sink (and maybe stop reading through ALL the bingo threads....)
