I want you to take a picture of that bookshelf you’ve been neglecting with all those books you are finally going to read this year! I like to look my challenges in the eye so I know what I’m up against. FACE my fears like when I grab a shoe to kill a spider and wail like a banshee. THAT’S BRAVE.

If you accept this challenge, you can upload your photo directly to this group. Click "photos" on the right and then "add more photos". Be sure to leave a caption so we know who's bookshelf it is!

If you don’t have a literal bookshelf of books you are reading for this challenge you can make a montage of the covers, take a screenshot of your Goodread’s shelf…whatever you want! It just has to be a picture so be creative :)

Can't wait to see all of your bookshelves!

How did you embed your photo like that! I didn't know you could do that! (Yes, Poe is fat. Probably because his name is so similar to PIE :)

message 4: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Your books are so pretty! Will have to do this later. Almost done with Oliver Twist. Happiness (:

I KNOW RIGHT.

message 8: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Why do you have it then?

message 9: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (Books: A true story) (booksatruestory) | 490 comments Mod
Because Rory Gilmore read Ayn Rand. :D I couldn't remember which book it was that she had read so I got Atlas Shrugged. I think she actually read Fountainhead in the episode. Maybe it's good? Long and wordy and a little strange, but overall good? Only one way to find out lol

message 10: by Adriana (new)

Adriana I read Anthem by her to start out with and then I decided I wouldn't read any others. Maybe they are good... doubt it. But one can hope.

Oh, I uploaded the photo to tinypic.com and used their HTLM code to put it here. (: But glad you figured it out!

Poe = pie. This seems a fair explanation. (:

message 12: by April (new)

April | 570 comments Ayn Rand! Phew...she's a tough read! ...and if you only read one (which I intend) then it should be Altas Shrugged. It is actually a good book...and she has darn high ideals (and everyone has their opinion on what those are and how they would work in our world)...but I tried reading the Fountainhead after Atlas Shrugged...and then another...they're all just the same story, different characters.

Ok...trying to put my "really lame next to yours" pic of my books up!

Totally lame...but it's the best I've got! I tried to make a wonderful collage...but time, kids and dinner (then battery failure) got in the way! So here they are! (as you can see I have some pysical books..but the rest are all on my kindle!) :)

And...NO, you can't have my dollar or my perler bead fish! (I know you ALL want them!) LOL:)

Isn't it funny when you think about WHY you're reading some books! I've read more books because a book I was reading mentioned a book:) The more I read, the more the list grows!

message 15: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) | 359 comments Oh, there's the infamous Paradise Lose book I've heard so much about between you all, hahah! Looks like it'll be fun. (;

April | 570 comments See how it's on the bottom! LOL!!! Jessica's gonna be my "big helper" on that one! She'll have the satisfaction of knowing...without her, I'll have probably never read it!

I had to add some explanation and directions to mine. It looks crazy but my New Years Resolution was to get it organized and clean it out. Check!

April, I love your picture! I think it's creative :) And I think half of my to-read list comes from books mentioned in other books. I need your help just as much. I started it years ago and 20 pages in I had only understood the first line. LOL

message 24: by April (new)

April | 570 comments Jessica...that's funny! I started it before I saw this challenge...and ya..put it back for later (that's why I knew it HAD to go on this list!) I think we'll have fun...and if we need to we can be so snarky!:)

My husband laughed at me..he said he read it in HS and he was telling me he read and read and read...and went into class the next day. Kids were talking about this and that...he said he was like "WHAT...I did NOT get ANY of that!"
I will enjoy talking it out with you...because I get so lost in poetry to 'what is the point of what they are saying here'!!! But, seriously...knowing that we're in it together . . I'm positive we will prevail!

...and thanks on the pic...I had to come up with something that didn't require an hour to get it done! I tried a screen shot, but no luck!... It works!

Hmm, I'm gonna hafta take some time out to sort out my dusty books from the others - plus most of them are on eReader so my challenges don't look as daunting to me ;D

message 35: by Dalynn (new)

Dalynn (dalynnrmc) Yeah... I have NINE SHELVES of books. Not 9 individual shelves - 9 book cases with 5 or 6 shelves on each of them. So that's just, non-homeschooling, non-children, books for ME ONLY... and actually it's just what I can see from here or remember off the top of my head.

And it's not counting the dozen or so books I've borrowed from my mother in the last 6 months; non-fic Christian help books that she wants me to pre-read for her (HA!) and tell her if they're worth her reading or if I should just recap it for her and save her the time. (I know. LOL)

And if you're wondering why it so closely reflects my TBR, it's because a big part of my goal this year is to read what I have and get rid of what I can. Though, to be honest, I'll be hanging on to most of the classics (whether hubby thinks that's practical or not). :)

Dalynn - lucky you! When I finally have my own place where I won't need to keep bookshelf sizes down to a minimum, I will go slightly mad ;D

message 37: by Dalynn (new)

Dalynn (dalynnrmc) All of that, and before our move last year I got rid of about 10 boxes of books to pare down some. Hubby is STILL all over me for all the books. I say it'd not be an issue if we'd stop moving all over the blasted state. :P But I buy used, hardly EVER new, and mostly they have been given to me anyway, so he can't complain. I obtain books like some women obtain purses, or shoes. LOL And one of these days I really WILL have a nice, built-in-shelves, room to call a library. I will.

message 38: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited Feb 07, 2012 11:12AM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I really don't think you want me to post photos of all of my bookcases. Just counting the ones with actual books in them (instead of my movie collection), I have 21 bookcases. (I do, after all, have 5,600+ actual books.) The bookshelves are all in various shapes and size. Some super skinny, some 6 feet tall, some are deeper than others. Some are wood, some are built yourself, some are metal shelving. They are in every room of the house practically, including the basement. lol Oh, and I didn't count (but probably should) the two shelf set of old Encyclopedias a friend gave me (came with it's own bookcase).

Below is just a thumbnail of a photo of 2 bookcases (1 skinny next to the other, with paperbacks on the big bookcase piled 2 rows high, 3 deep) side by side in my dining room. If you click on it, it will take you to a full view of the photo on my webshots album. (The basket hanging off my bookshelf is for outgoing mail.)

Katie Atug (katieatug) My books are all in my Kindle :) they are on my bookshelf too but I have guests until march and walking in the lounge and taking photos of my books may strike them as odd haha.......

Dalynn (dalynnrmc) briansgirl - I am sooooo jealous! :P

message 41: by April (new)

April | 570 comments Kate ~ I LOVE your bookshelf! ...and I love the fact that you can hardly see it...:) Fantabulous!

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Thanks Ladies. Most of my bookcases are about that full. lol Have to, to get them all in. I'm at the point though, that I have no more room for any more bookcases, and the bookcases I do have are nearly bursting. So I don't buy much lately (usually buy used anyway) as I have no place to put it. And of the 5,600+ books, I've read nearly 900, so putting a decent sized dent into my library! hehe :)
