What are, in your opinion, the worst books you've ever read?

Personally, I can't stand Twilight and all the hype surrounding it. I also didn't enjoy Wings (Wings, #1) by Aprilynne Pike , Moonglass by Jessi Kirby , Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson , Mistwood (Mistwood, #1) by Leah Cypess , and I'm really starting to dislike the HoN series.

It's not that I didn't like Ascend (Trylle Trilogy, #3) by Amanda Hocking but the ending was all wrong to me. I'm all about the first love thing, and the love triangle disappointed me. Like really why do that to me!!! You cheer for the oringinal relationship for 2 whole books and then all of a sudden it's, "Oh I don't love you anymore because my aura 'glows' around him!!" Bullcrap you're a slut and I don't like you anymore so there! Ok rant over, but I haven't been so upset with a book since the time I read New Moon and I almost shot somebody's mama when I read that book so just imagine how I was. The story was really good, but I was so disappointed, becuase at least in other love triangles the third party shows up early in the series and anticipation builds. But it was just like instant and she was kinda slutty too but I will stop ranting now I promise.

Adriana Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles sorry but I don't know how people like this. Oh my life is so crappy boo hoo hoo. And then all they think about is sex. It's ridiculous.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Isn't it ironic that Twilight makes both the best and worst book lists? Of course, it belongs on the worst list.... Although, I'd have to say that Breaking Dawn is the worst book in the enire series. Much as I dislike Bella, I dislike Jacob even more. I would have liked to see Bella's pregnancy through her point of view. That whole part of the book was pointless.

I just read this and i was a little disappointed because it gets high ratings but i did not like it much. One, I was expecting more romance Two, the whole gang lifestyle seemed fake to me..It felt as if the auhtor wrote about something she had no knowledge about.

Karina Thirst No. 1 The Last Vampire, Black Blood and Red Dice (Thirst, #1) by Christopher Pike if this had not been a gift I would have already donated it to my public library.

It took me a while to get into Across the Universe, but I enjoyed it in the end.

My vote goes to Breaking Dawn. Just...No.

Carly Hated them all

message 12: by Carly (new)

Carly Oh I also hated After Tupac and D Foster by Jacqueline Woodson Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson

message 13: by Adriana (new)

Adriana Dude. Mockingjay was awesome.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

I think Mockingjay has a lot of mixed reviews. Personally, I didn't think it was a good ending to the series.

Yeah a lot of the top rated books/series are like that. It's like if 1 person hates it 3 more love it. Like with Mockingjay I liked it but at the same time I was pretty traumatized at the end....

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't hate Mockingjay, but I didn't really think it was all that good.

message 17: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 102 comments I wasn't a huge fan of the Hunger Games series as a whole, honestly. I thought the first book was alright, but after that I kind of lost interest. :/ I didn't dislike them, but I didn't love them either.

As for all time least favorite books...

The Maximum Ride series, The House of Night series, Blue Bloods, Tithe, Pay It Forward, The Dangerous Days of Daniel X, Blood and Chocolate, Wake, Gone, Halo, I Am Number Four, Shatter Me ... Um. Yeah.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

The concept of Maximum Ride was interesting, but the book wasn't that great. Also, House of Night started off somewhat good, then just went downhill fast. Once again, cool concept, bad book.

message 19: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 102 comments Yeah. The concept of Maximum Ride was fairly unoriginal but still interesting. And I liked the first couple of books, but then they got god-awful and plotless. I agree about House of Night. The first few books were okay, but like Maximum Ride it also went way, way downhill.

When Zoey turned into a hypocritical slut, that's when they just dropped off the cliff. Honestly, I think Zoey is the problem with that series (there's a major problem when readers don't like the main character). However, I can praise the diversity in the characters. They were flat yes, but at least they weren't all the same as far as skin color, sexual orientation, and so and so forth goes.

message 21: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 102 comments That's also the biggest problem I have with the story––I loathe Zoey. She's hypocritical and selfish, so it's hard to sympathize with her.

Eh ... I appreciate the authors trying to create a diverse cast of characters, but I think they're trying too hard. There's a difference between actually having a good cast of diverse characters and having "token" characters of different sexualities, races, etc. and I feel like the Casts do more of the latter. They're also quite stereotypical at times to the point where I'd be cringing a bit...

Becca (beccatheawesomeone) | 146 comments I could hardly stand The Search for WondLa (WondLa, #1) by Tony DiTerlizzi . I also can't stand Twilight.

message 27: by Kirstin (new)

Kirstin | 57 comments I never made it through Halo and don't plan to. House of night got on my nerves and I stopped at book four or five (I don't remember). Nevermore had a good plot but the writing was very bland to me :/ I wanted to like it more than I did.

message 28: by Carly (last edited Aug 15, 2012 07:52PM) (new)

Carly Sorry this is really delayed but I found that the representation of Katniss in Mockingjay was unbearable. It degraded a power female lead into someone who hides in closets and gets knocked out during the battle scenes. Also I think hate is an extreme word that doesn't really fit the description of Mockingjay. I just didn't enjoy it.
