...I just realized I have taken part in most of the discussions mentioned above. Sorry! -.-"

I want to see some of the shows from years past, like The Jeff Corwin Experience. The shows now have no character at all.
Now it's all reality stuff. It's tough to swallow. (had to throw that in there).
Thoughts?

how do you watch the superbowl without them?
how do you watch the superbowl without them?

By not telling her where I am going :P

Ya know, this is the best way to go. I've been doing it for years and can only recommend as well! Something about it not being scheduled and you pick what you watch, when, makes everything so much more palatable. (though I still agree that everything on tv sucks to a high degree).
Just read that swallows article last night. Now I really want facts and figures for the African type!

I should have...sorry next time you´ll get some :)

I'll be makin lemon strawberry muffins in honor of my birthday on Friday for school. Yummy yummy pants!

Recently I've become a huge fan of banana & white choc chip muffins because they contain banana so they must be healthy (......) and still full of chocolately goodness.
Happy Birthday for Friday Xeni!! :D

Advent, Advent, my English brennt
I am sleeping very well in my quietsching Bettgestell.
But today in dieser Nacht,
is that Schei eil zamgekracht.
So I hope that dir das not passiert and that my Englisch better wird.
When the snow falls wunderbar
And the children happy are,
When the Glatteis on the street,
And we all a Gluehwein need,
Then you know, es ist soweit:
She is here, the Weihnachtszeit.
Every Parkhaus is besetzt,
Weil die people fahren jetzt
All to Kaufhof, Mediamarkt,
Kriegen nearly Herzinfarkt.
Shopping hirnverbrannte things
And the Christmasglocke rings.
Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas,
Hear the music, see the lights,
Frohe Weihnacht, Frohe Weihnacht,
Merry Christmas allerseits ...
Mother in the kitchen bakes
Schoko-, Nuss- and Mandelkeks
Daddy in the Nebenraum
Schmcks a Riesen-Weihnachtsbaum
He is hanging auf the balls,
Then he from the Leiter falls ...
Finally the Kinderlein
To the Zimmer kommen rein
And es sings the family
Schauerlich: "Oh, Chistmastree!"
And then jeder in the house
Is packing die Geschenke aus.
Merry Christmas, merry Christmas,
Hear the music, see the lights,
Frohe Weihnacht, Frohe Weihnacht,
Merry Christmas allerseits ...
Mama finds unter the Tanne
Eine brandnew Teflon-Pfanne,
Papa gets a Schlips and Socken,
Everybody does frohlocken.
President speaks in TiVi,
All around is Harmonie.
Bis mother in the kitchen runs:
Im Ofen burns the Weihnachtsgans.
And so comes die Feuerwehr
With Tat, tata daher,
And they bring a long, long Schlauch
And a long, long Leiter auch.
And they cry - "Wasser marsch!",
Christmas das is now im Arsch ...
Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas,
Hear the music, see the lights,
Frohe Weihnacht, Frohe Weihnacht,
Merry Christmas allerseits...

I absolutely LOVE this poem! We read it in German one day. Or something like that.
Too sad only Germans (or people who speak it) get the joke...

Ah, they sucked big time. Lemon is always rather tricky to bake with, I find, due to the acidity probably. I have yet to get a really great lemon cake or muffin recipe. :( But I keep trying!

Ikea? :P

And yes, it is an Ikea-shelf. Three of my six shelves are from Ikea so far. ;)

I'm the same way...but if we all do this, who's going to pay to produce the content? Any thoughts out there on new and better forms of funding for filmed entertainment?? Or will we reach a point where we all realize none of it is worth paying for an television will simply fade away...lol

But you're right about the download-thing. The good thing about it is that you can choose when to watch what. Sometimes I just don't have the time to watch TV - but when I have there's only rubbish.

I wouldn't object to a pay-per view system where I could just pay a dollar to watch an HBO show I liked. But I've no interest in committing to a cable package where it's 99.9% garbage. I'd actually feel morally bad about contributing to the support of most of the programming out there. And so, for now, I pirate.
It's similar to how I feel about music. I don't like buying music via record company conduits given the tiny percentage --but I'd gladly pay an artist directly for access to their work. So I'm a pirate until better systems of compensation get devised...

You're right in that it's different. The reason I don't watch TV is that the programming here in Australia is pretty crap. We don't get a lot of good shows and the ones we do are weeks, months or sometimes years behind.
Cinema is a different thing altogether. I love going but the problem there is cost. One adult ticket here is currently $15.50 (~€12). And I don't really go by myself. So with my fiancee it's now over $30. And cinema is about experience. One of those experiences is the food. So you have to get a popcorn. That means you need a drink as well because popcorn is so dry. Now the cost is over $50. Just to see 1 movie. It's not worth it most of the time.

Haha... I wouldn't want to win the $640 million pot- I'd rather win the $7 million... more anonymous that way- and $7 million is still more than I'll ever earn...
