Pamela Mason (pamelavmason) | 9 comments I'll start:
I have LOTS of favs.
I love Rhage in the BDB because of his commitment to Mary - that he threw himself on the mercy of the brothers to 'make it safe' for her.
He endured pain just for her - and some level of humiliation too.

How about you? Do you have a favorite you want to talk about here?

Lisa (lisae1962) | 4 comments I can't pick one. I have a favorite for each series that I like. I always seem to like the tortured guys for some reason. Like Acheron in Dark Hunters, or Vishous in BDB, Shadow in Hell's Eight, those are the ones that come to mind at the moment. I don't have a favorite in the Immortals After Dark series, that's probably because all the heroes seem to be equally tortured souls. I'm not sure why I find that attractive. Maybe I should seek help about that, but luckily it doesn't impact my life in any negative way since I'm happily married to a man who is not a tortured soul.

Sherri Dub (sheropatra) | 6 comments My favorite romance hero of all time is: Jamie Frazier of (Diana Gabaldon's~OUTLANDER) A witty, scottish rogue with a true moral compass. There has never been such a vivid character written, for me, that has encorporated every element that a romantic hero should be comprised of.
Stands the test of time.
Jamie's a man who knows that love is not something to hide, but something to fight for. He's honest, true and courageous.
He believes in love.
I adore that in a man.

message 4: by Beverly (last edited Feb 12, 2012 09:19AM) (new)

Beverly Diehl (writerbeverly) So many, but I think Gavin Ramsay from Celeste de Blasis's The Proud Breed. He fights to won his bride, Tessa, from another man; later on helps her recover from a brutal rape. Their love is tempestuous - during the rough times, he's unfaithful to her, and she learns to be so to him - but he forgives her and (rightly) blames himself, and even loves and wants the child of her affair.

Of course, Gavin hits the other tickmarks too - handsome, muscular, successful in his business.

message 5: by Heather (new)

Heather Book Savvy Babe (booksavvybabe) | 10 comments I also love Jamie Fraser, from he is a true highland hero. He is loyal, fierce, and he puts up with a woman who travels through time... gotta love him...

Alastair from Sylvia Day's Seven Years to Sin is a great historical romance hero as well. He waits for his woman, he grows up a lot, and becomes a hero worthy of a Lady. Outlander

If I went into paranormal heroes, I would be here all day... but those 2 above are good starts :)

message 6: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Mason (pamelavmason) | 9 comments I agree - Jamie Fraser is a Keeper. He's been popping up quite a bit today in other places too. What's the universe saying about that I wonder?

Beverly, I am not familiar with The Proud Breed. This sounds like a very complex romance. I'll be sure to look out for it.

Heather - I've read Sylvia Day, but not this one. Another to look for. I like a hero who grows up and becomes worthy. I think that's one of the things that make us love romance - the character arcs and their lessons in morality and humanity.

message 7: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Hayes | 37 comments There is a tie for my favorite hero. It's between Jamie Fraser (which a few of you seem to agree with) and Alexander from The Bronze Horseman Trilogy.

message 8: by Beebs (new)

Beebs (yvond) | 5 comments Um....Dain from Lord of Scoundrels.

Closely followed by Ian MacKenzie, Rupert Carsington, Cameron MacKenzie, Darius Carsington, Charming Mickey, Vere Mallory.....too many to mention.

This could be a long list, Loretta Chase's heroes are a big favourite, as are Jennifer Ashley's MacKenzies, I just love those tortured heroes.

Who writes this trilogy? Another new author &series for me to discover!

Pamela Mason (pamelavmason) | 9 comments Wow Beebs! You love 'em all! A reader after my own heart- I hate letting them go too!

message 11: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Vane (victoriavane) | 16 comments My favorite is Jamie Fraser from OUTLANDER (although I pretty much despise Claire LOL), followed by Dain from LORD OF SCOUNDRELS and Damarel from VENETIA.

message 12: by Heather (new)

Heather Book Savvy Babe (booksavvybabe) | 10 comments so, basically, most of us here in this group would totally jump Jamie Fraser? woohoo! ;)

So far in my reading he can't be beat!

Sherri Hayes | 37 comments Pamela wrote: "Hi Sherrie,

Paullina Simons writes The Bronze Horseman Trilogy. Just a word of advice, get all three books at once. Once you finish the first one especially, you will want to read the second immediately.

message 16: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Dub (sheropatra) | 6 comments Diana Gabaldon. I have to say, love the first book the most. It has everything, and is a class-act delivery of a true romance. The others in the series didn't hold up.
But, Jamie Fraser is delicious.
Enjoy.

I totally agree with you Sherri. I loved outlander, but the other books were just okay...and they are long.... I read books 2 and 3, and I'm kind of over the story, I'm happy just to re-read Outlander :)

I read the second book and was supremely disappointed but I'm told Voyager is worthwhile. I do intend to get to it eventually.

Sherri Dub (sheropatra) | 6 comments I saw a link on FB today that asked who you would want to be cast as: Jamie Fraser. Hmm. That's a tough one. The red hair is what makes it Hollywood actor choice, tough.
My only ideas are: Liam Niesen, though he did Rob Roy.
And, perhaps...now do NOT laugh, but Tori Spelling's husband (Dean) has a hellavu Scottish accent when he is asked to use it. Honest! He'd have to lose some weight, but he's tall enough, too.
What are your ideas, ladies?

message 20: by Giulia (new)

Giulia So hard to choose! I absolutely unconditionally adore and worship Zsadist from The Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I think it's because he was introduced as this ruined man, totally destroyed by his past beyond recovery, but he does heal and we find out how gentle a soul he really is. I just love him.

The other one is Sebastian from Lisa Kleypas Wallflowers series. The reformed rake character has always captured my heart, but with Sabastian what I love is how flippant he is without ever being really cold or nasty. There's just so much about him that I get that I can't help but love him.

message 21: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen J | 3 comments My absolute, hands down, all time, favorite is Tucker Longstreet from Carnal Knowledge by Nora Roberts. I have read the books several times over the years. I live in the South and maybe part of his appeal is that he is so authentically a Southern gentleman. But he is such a complex character. A charming bad boy but with honor, a man who people think is rich and lazy when he is in fact intelligent and diligent in his duty to his family. And, I like to see the way he evolves in the novel.

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Louise Smith (sarahlouisesmith) Mine has to be Mr Darcy from Pride & Prejudice, followed by Edward Cullen from Twilight... Both very different but both very romantic!
Any of the Jane Austen heroes would be on my list too :)

message 23: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Sharpe (abigailsharpe) Both my heroes have been taken! Jamie and Darcy. I love that Darcy struggles with his heart and what he thinks is right. And then says screw being right, I want to follow my heart, but completely botches it. :). Though not the second time.

message 24: by Marijane (new)

Marijane | 1 comments Jamie Frazer and Ruark (J. D. Robb) series.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Speaking of P&P, the romance between Bingley and Jane just melts my heart! He's not a romance hero, per se, or my favorite, but he is too sweet.

message 26: by Jane (new)

Jane Godman (janegodman) | 4 comments I did a blog here, where I tried to devise a 'rating' system for my favourite romantic heroes. It was just for fun, but it did work well.
https://www.arecafe.com/cafe-news/rat...
My favourites are all from 'older' literature and I'd love to find some newer heroes if anyone has any recommendations.

message 27: by Erin (new)

Erin O'Riordan (erinoriordan) | 2 comments Like Giulia~Bubbles, Zsadist in Lover Awakened is my favorite ever. I love the really, really broken ones, the guys who are outwardly incredibly tough and strong, but inwardly need someone to rescue them.

message 28: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Erin, I agree. I have a list of all my imaginary boyfriends on my blog.

message 29: by HarperImpulse (new)

HarperImpulse | 2 comments Coming a bit late to this, but my romantic hero is the Dread Pirate Roberts from The Princess Bride. I love his dry sense of humour and of course, the pirate outfit...

Wow, I thought I was the only one who remembered this book! My number-one, all-time favorite book, and yes, Gavin was a wonderful hero!

YES! He was my absolute favourite. I did a blog post on my top tortured heroes a while back and he was at the top. I keep re-reading Father Mine. Like every month!

message 33: by Giulia (new)

Giulia Yup :) you said it sister

message 34: by Noemi (last edited Jun 30, 2013 02:36PM) (new)

Noemi Betancourt (noemi_betancourt) | 4 comments I wasn't able to answer before now but I just fell head over heels in love with Robert Kemble from Julia Quinn's Everything and the Moon. He falls hard for the heroine right from the get go and being about 17 he acts like a silly fool yet it doesn't emasculate him. He's so sciencey that today he'd be a total nerd but he's also loyal and honorable. Of course the elopement goes wrong because both H&H are young and stupid and it's seven years before they find each other again. I love how his love for her makes him vulnerable at times and super protective at other times and once he realized where the misunderstanding lies he really busts his hump to win her back. I just love the guy :-D

HERE IS A NEW BOOK, A MUST READ!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!

When nurse Sara Peters treats celebrity billionaire Trenton Merrick for a mysterious injury to his forehead, she is blindsided by what follows: a passionate exchange in the examination room, followed by an invitation to Trenton's mansion the next night.

Trenton spins a web of deceit and seduction around Sara that both repels and attracts her. One part humanitarian, the other international financial mogul, his professional and public life are a curious contradiction. As Sara journeys deeper into her feelings for Trenton and begins unraveling the mystery behind his injury, she finds herself embroiled in a game of trust and betrayal, where the odds are stacked in Trenton's favor, and the outcome for the loser is too terrifying to conceive.

I JUST LOVE TRENTON MERRICK!!!
