Sangyeon Lee (SangyeonLee) | 6 comments The thing about movies made from books is that they bet rid of what you were imagining. That's why I always like to avoid those movies.

Jumping in front of the gun there... less than a month to go though!!

message 5: by JumpStreet_ (new)

JumpStreet_ | 400 comments Eeek, I am so stoked.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Hm.....that would be a tough question to answer. Especially since the movie HASN'T come out yet. I think the book will probably be better. Even though Susan did help with the characters...Madge isn't in the movie which I think is a big downer. Soo.. I still have no clue. I'm going with my guts and hoping that I'm not wrong, so I'm going with that the book is going to be better than the movie.

OMG, I'm sooooo excited that it's coming out soon! Except I don't know if I want to see it in theaters..

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

The movie hasn't come out yet...

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah lol..

message 9: by Jamielh (new)

Jamielh I have a feeling the book is going to be way better. The commercials already are messing up key pieces in the books that should NOT be changed. But that's Hollywood for you. Plus, the acting so far seems horrible on the part of the actress playing Katniss.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

And maybe Cinna...

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Not MAYBE Cinna. YES Cinna.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

If I was Cinna...you'd be..EW!

message 13: by esthermarie (new)

esthermarie | 8 comments Books are almost ALWAYS better. BUT, movie is not yet out, and it looks like its gonna be good(!) so maybe it will come close after the book? I hope.!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Did you guys see all the new stills yesterday?

...that's not what I meant. I meant that Lenny Kravitz is NOT Cinna.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Lenny isn't Cinna....but if I like him......I'll like him. My fried yelled at me about saying how he wasn't!

Agree

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

The book will of course especially in regards to characters. The director doesn't exactly have good taste as some of the actors don't suit the roles they play (e.g. Josh Hutcherson does not suit Peeta).
Also because there are a lot of things on the book that have not been added in the movie (eg. Madge giving Katniss the pin) which is acceptable of course because then the movie would last for quite a while but there is just more detail in the books.

What do you mean "Josh Hutcherson does not suit Peeta"? He fits the physical aspect perfectly, not too tall and stalky. Plus, he dyed his hair blonde. From all the interviews I've watched of him, he seems to be a lot like Peeta "off camera," and I think he will do well in the role of Peeta even just from the movie trailer.
I'm not trying to attack you, but I just have to ask: What do you mean "Josh Hutcherson does not suit Peeta"?

I have to disagree. I think the director did a fantastic job picking the actors. And Josh Hutcherson is a perfect match!

Wisegirl | 190 comments The book will probably be better, but who knows! It's just that the book has more details-it doesn't have a time limit. And in the movie, things will have to get cut. I'm still really excited for the movie though! Can't wait!!!

I really hope the movie doesn't tone down the violence or the political issues. And it definitely should not bring the stupid love triangle into the foreground of every single thing.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, it will. we all know that.

Have a little faith. I think they probably will include violence and political issues.

message 30: by Shelly (new)

Shelly (mashbay) Hate to be a pessimist, but I don't see how the movie could live up to the book. I will see it though and will keep an open mind.

Zarya | 6 comments for me, the books are usually better than the movies and i dont think hunger games will be any different but the trailer seems really good so we'll just have to wait and see :)

message 33: by Mars (new)

Mars (flammechant) I saw the movie and I can assure that it's an excellent adaptation. Things have been changed, but it fits perfectly in the story. I can't wait to watch it again.

I can say that the horror of the reality tv show is more striking in the movie because we can actually see it like it's described in the book and that's the real plus brought by the movie.

ℂᖺαᖇᒪἷ℮ ⊰1017 &Tardis⊱ (charlie_awesome) | 625 comments You saw it? AHAHAHAHAHA YAY

I have been waiting since summer, checking every website for status updates ever since I read it (I know, obsessed much)!!! I even introduced it to my family and, like, at least 5 people are obsessed now too in my family and we can't freakin' see it yet!!! It's just not fair!!!!!!

Sorry for the rant, but I needed too get it off my chest. This story is amazing!!!

message 38: by Alexxa (new)

Alexxa Owen (alexxa111) Just watched the Movie only hours ago! They did a really good job! Not everything was perfect--it's hollywood-- but I really liked how it all came to life! I like them both equal!!! AMAZING!!!!

Maybe, maybe. Or maybe we're just strong fans. Anyone with me in going down to Hollywood and making Lionsgate redo the movie?

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) what did you not like about it?

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

*cough*

1. CINNA.
2. The pin.
3. Snow.
4. The mutts.
5. The Avoxes.
6. Madge.
7. Peeta/Gale.
8. The complete LACK of any romantic development.
9. Only stuck to the book 5/8 of the time.

I could go on...

message 46: by Hylian Princess (last edited Mar 25, 2012 10:15PM) (new)

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) You didn't like Cinna? I loved Cinna!
What was wrong with Snow?

I heard that they cut out Madge and the Avoxes because it would take too much time if they were in there. Each of those is a separate story to tell. The movie was already almost three hours as it was.

Okay, I agree with the lack of romantic development. Katniss seemed cold to Peeta, even in the cave. Though Peeta did a good job on his end.

I'm glad the mutts didn't look like the tributes. That would have been rather hard for the makers to pull off and I think if they tried it would have only ruined the whole effect of the movie.

What do you mean by Peeta/Gale?

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

Cinna was fantastic!

Snow did a pretty good job, what was wrong with him?

I was sad about Madge, but she isn't a big part, they have to cut out SOMETHING. Now, I have to admit, I was very angry about the Avoxes but I can live.

Well, I thought they did pretty well.... I think they're saving that for Catching Fire, because they didn't do the train, so you just wait.

The mutts were scary enough without that!!!!!!!

It stuck to the book completely! What, are you up set Katniss didn't climb that tree immediately when the Careers were chasing her? Poor, poor, you.

You need a realty check, it couldn't be perfect, it would have to be like 5 hours long!Plus, did you SEE Cato at the end???? Brilliant! Just brilliant!

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, yes I do. (Need a reality check)

I just set my expectations too high, that's all. No worries.

But Peeta comes across as a stalker. Just saying.

message 49: by Ela (last edited Mar 26, 2012 08:36AM) (new)

Ela I thought Snow was good, Cinna was pretty good but i love him in the books so my expectations were very high.
I agree about the mutts, but they were scary and it would have been complicated to explain the eyes to people who hadnt read the book.
Madge isn't a major character, and while it was a shame, I thought she was bound to be cut out.

I thought it stuck pretty well to the books, most of the time.
Althought I didnt think there was much bonding between Katniss and Peeta/Rue, which made me sad.
I did like the fact that when the head gamemaker was talking to Snow he was in a rose garden! Was so excited when I realised!!!

message 50: by Derek (new)

Derek Petterborg | 1 comments While I thought the movie was pretty fantastic, there is no way it is even in the same realm as the books. The book is like an onion where you peel off layer after layer and it just gets sweeter as it goes piling up.
