Hey folks, for the month of March I got to choose the member whose selection we'd read. So Xeni got the nod and she's chosen John Dies at the End.

So grab a copy and be ready for the discussion in March :)

Kim | 1499 comments From Xeni's review I'm a little scared of it already :P

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

No kidding.

Should provide an entertaining discussion though :P

message 4: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I went and cuddled my dogs just from glancing at the photos in some of the reviews...

This looks TOO freaky for me!

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

I want to say that there isn't a book out there that'd be too freaky for me, but then I know I'd get recced stuff that would probably make me weep.

So I'll just say I'm gonna give this one a go and hope for the best :P

message 7: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Let me know how it is - if I'm just being a wuss, I'll give it a try.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Denae liked it, so it can't be that bad.

Of course, she's kinda weird too so...

JSWolf | 9 comments This book is just too out there. Let's start over.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Nope. This is Xeni's choice.

Feel free to torch&pitchfork her, though.

uh.

10 bucks from Amazon.

eta: weird, just found the 200dollar one. Looks like that's for the original printing or something. Luckily there's a 10buck version in paperback and kindle.

Candiss (tantara) Awesome! I've had this one on my list since before it came out, and now I have an excuse to bump it up. This promises to be a fun read.

Alicia I've been debating whether I wanted to read this one. Maybe I'll see if the library has a copy.

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 464 comments So some of the main reasons I picked this:

1. One of the editors of cracked.com wrote this. I <3 the laughs that site gives me.
2. I was recommended reading this book by members of the r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix subreddit. Thy haven't lead me wrong yet!
3. It was an odd period of time while I was reading this and it gave me a WONDERFUL "mindfuck" feel for that week or two.

I can understand people not wanting to read it. It is odd humor and extremely graphic at times in violence and such, and if that's not your cup of tea then abstain.

But for those who have heard of this book (or not!) and it piqued their interest, well, then here is your time to discuss it with me!

P. S I have a friend who works at cracked.com and I'll see if he can get me in contact with David Wong and see if we maybe can get him to drop by. That is how enthusiastic I am!

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

That would be cool, Xeni :)

Erica | 1 comments Great read. Might read it again just for the crack:)

message 18: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (psramsey) | 393 comments Oooo...a book I already own. I grabbed this during my Final Days of Borders binge.

Nicholas (dexkilo) | 2 comments I grabbed this one when the 2nd printing came out and LOVED it. None of my friends have read it, so I'm looking forward to this discussion.

Also, the movie needs to hurry up and get distributed.

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 464 comments Yes yes yes on the movie front!!

I was amazed at how much some of the shots from the movie trailer resembled my mental picture of the scenery in the book. Especially the house in the snow and the Chinese restaurant.

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 464 comments They didn't mine. :( My imagination was MUCH more wild!

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) | 122 comments One of my best twitter and goodreads friends read this recently and loved it, so I was already intrigued. I'm not into being scared, but I love dark, twisted humor, so count me in, I'll give it a try!
