Ever Wanted To Make Your Own Band?

Well now. I am actually part of a band. It's my family and I. There are enough of us to play just about every instrument we need. And (not to boast of course) but we don't sound too bad. We play most genres (heavy-metal, and rap not being among those) and are even in the process of trying to lay some tracks!

Ohh, that's great! :)
I can't sing (which is what I would LOVE to do) but I can play a few notes on the flute and would be interested in joining a group that plays Native American music (there is NO music as hauntingly beautiful as the flute, drums, strings and chimes that sound like a wailing wind one minute and softly falling rain the next)

Ooohh! A family band! :D That sounds like fun! And good luck with the tracks! :)

Lol. Did you enjoy it? :)

It was fun...kinda.
Late night practices
Even later night gigs, almost always at stinky bars filled with...well...drunk people.
As the only other girl besides the lead singer, I was frequently yanked off stage to "dance" while in the middle of playing and I can't tell you how many people just fell into the band apparently too drunk to dance and breath at the same time.
Our little horn section (there was three of us) had a pact. If any one of us were to go down, grab our horn! My trombone was saved several times thanks to that pact!
We did have a good time for the most part but eventually the drama from the band's divas (which was pretty much everyone) just got intolerable. I'm glad I did it but I would never go back, at least not to that type of group.
On tour with the Phantom of the Opera orchestra? Yea I wouldn't mind that gig.. :)
Sounds interesting. Though being around drunk people doesn't exaxtly sound fun, lol! :)
Phantom of The Opera orchestra?? o.O
Phantom of The Opera orchestra?? o.O

Heck yea! The music is a blast (lots of low scary trombone stuff) plus I love that musical - the tour part would be the only iffy part but if it paid well enough...

You're full of compliments today, aren't you, Julius?

You have seriously got to learn to ignore me. -_-
I come out with nothing but slightly random or embarrassing comments unless I am in a convo. I would have thought that painfully obvious! :P

Who has an answer to the question?
Speak up!

I could ignore you but commenting is far more interesting. After all it was just me and you for a long while not too far back...

Too true, too true! :)
But now we have more members, haha. Although not many reply enough to make this the most intriguing group on GR.... -?-

I went to a high school where nobody played guitar. That's right. Not one guitarist in the whole school. We had a bass player. Well, he had a bass and an amp. He didn't know any of the notes, though. A friend of mine played piano and he and I would teach the bassist where to put his hands to play the songs I wrote. Since we didn't have guitars, we added a couple of singers and sang three part harmony on every song to fill up the sound. Yeah. It wasn't good.
I played in a blues-rock band that attempted to raise money for food pantries in Chicago. It turns out that the food pantries weren't interested in that kind of help, so that went nowhere.
I worked on a couple of recording projects in home studios with friends. Those projects ended prematurely due to changes in direction (they just didn't want to continue). After the last one fizzled out, I was fairly depressed about my opportunities to create something. I returned to writing novels and found that I enjoy this more since I'm not relying on other people to finish the project.

Isn't it just terrible when a seemingly good thing simply doesn't wish to happen?

Ah, well... It still means you have given it your best try, but sometimes one's determination will get no-where without help. At least, like you said, with writing, you only have to depend on yourself to pull through and finish the current "project". :)
Hope you weren't too crushed at having to give up on making it big in the music industry, at the time. :)

Well, why don't you try and find a local or wannabe band, or something? They could probably do it as a test-drive.
OR, you could try to self-produce.
Just a suggestion. :)
