she's been editing for sure! ;-)

I haven't had time for my own writing...lol... I tried to do the February challenge on 750words.com, but I got too busy to keep up with that too. I did get a lot done, though... just not enough to be anywhere near publishing. You can see some of the other things I've been working on in the Editing section of my blog.

Cassie, don't feel badly, I've been gone from the group even longer than you! Does anyone even remember who I am???
Spent the day working online yesterday (seriously, from 8 or 9 in the morning until 5 or 6 at night) with my graphics designer, Sessha Batto, and got a new cover for Conditioned Response. Here's who I am now:

Can't wait to see you add this cover to your blog's Project List page, Cassie (hint hint hint)
I'm going to submit Sessha's cover to contests for covers, too - any publicity is good publicity - but gotta get the edits done! Paul's almost done (as is SapperMike) and Patrick started diving in this weekend. Tricia's the only one slacking now (:: waves :: Tricia, you're the backup, no pressure)

I have been MIA too. Man life just takes over and its hard to keep up isn't it?
I miss you all though!

Thanks, Cambria. I heard from Cassie (since I'm nagging at her and the rest of the team for updates and status reports!) Turns out she's been sidetracked by life and yeah, life sure can make it hard to keep up! I don't feel so badly after hearing the trevails of half of my editorial team!
Got the first pass of line-edits from 1 of the 6 though and am almost done completing all of his catches so my book is moving forward despite everybody's lives interfering!
I'm so excited for this book's release. Chomping at the bit only half describes it!

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with this situation all week, Cassie. It's this book. It's cursed. Patrick's JUST getting done with his "elderly relative" situation and SapperMike (that friend/consultant I hooked into this 10 days ago) set himself up over the weekend to read while he was sequestered in a work-related remote location for 2 days anyway--and a piece of masonry fell on his head when he sat down to read. He just got out of the hospital last night.
Un-freak-real. I'm telling you this book is CURSED!! Read at your own risk!!

I'm so sorry you've had to deal with this situa..."
It's not funny... but it is. It is pretty freaky...LOL. I had to take a mental health day yesterday, and I've been busy with home and kids today, but I plan to get back to reading!!
Perhaps you should pick luckier people to work for you! Hahahaha!!

To which I replied: "

And Cassie answered: "It's not funny... but it is. It is pretty freaky...LOL. I had to take a mental health day yesterday, and I've been busy with home and kids today, but I plan to get back to reading!!

Ironically, the people I picked were pretty lucky people--until they started reading my book!!
I had to take a mental health day yesterday, too. Thursday night, exhausted from working 2 trucks at my labor-intensive day job, I crawled onto my "bed" (an airbed from Walmart, not a real bed) and it exploded....deflated quickly. I have been sleeping on the floor now. My back is killing me and it's back to the labor day job today. I'm not sure I actually can work without sleeping at night. As fat/overweight as I am, my bones still poke into the floor when I lie down on it.
I still cannot afford a bed, but I might try to find a memory foam "topper" thing cheap ($50 or less) At least that won't explode or deflate every six months! This is my 3rd air bed from Walmart (at $50 a pop) in 2 years so I could nearly have afforded a bed at this point. Argh.
Cassie, I still need to write that battle scene (now that SapperMike is out, having been hospitalized when the roof fell on him as he tried to sit down and read this book--seriously, try to be careful when you read!!) so if I can just figure out how to sleep for ONE frakkin night, clear my head by clearing my body of pain, I can try to get that done Monday/Tuesday, though I onlyhave half days each day.
You'll see I have it outlined and all figured out, just need to write it in the correct/appropriate tone of voice. That's what I wanted Mike's help with (oh well). Hopefully by the time you get to the scene (at the 90% mark) I'll have finished it! There's enough finished material just after it to give you a feel for the ending - will it be a "Satisfying Reader Experience"? Inquiring minds want to know! ^_^

Love the book cover, Friday!

Georgina, MY book is cursed. I swear to gawwwwd it is. There's nothing wrong with the file, it's not the actual "book" that has a problem; it's the BOOK, the concept, the effort to launch it, the people involved in it all getting .... I dunno, dumped on by A Higher Power? It's super freaky the way this book is bringing bad luck to everyone who tries to further it towards release.
I don't mind all that much because I've always noticed that the battle between Good and Evil seems to play out fairly predictably. This book is really, really Good so the Evil in the universe is fighting really, really hard to stop it from succeeding (LOL) I am fondly reminded of a line from the book, repeated by a trio of characters who are genetically almost identical:
I'm just NOT that easy to kill--but you're welcome to try!!

I got a discontinued model, already opened (not used) and returned King size (actually only 72" square but it's great) foam "mattress" that is 3" thick and goes for $299 - she had already knocked it down 33% but that had gotten the return and she saw where I work (I was dressed for work already) and offered to knock off another 50% so bottom line, I got a $300 "mattress/bed" for $90 - woo hoo!! I cannot wait to try it out tonight. I haven't slept since Wed really. This is gonna be great! (I am far too easy to please, aren't I?)
And it arrives to deliver me great sleep just in the nick of time! I have the next 3 days "off" to write that battle scene and finish collecting/incorporating what edits I have to this point. Perfect!
Yep, I am just not that easy to kill (haha)

That is awesome! Be sure to let us know how it goes...

We had some severe weather overnight so I woke up a lot around the middle of the night when the storms were heavy with the thunder, lightning and wind throwing branches around but except for those 2-3 hours, I slept from around 8;30 until 6am!! Since I usually get up at 4am that's great that I slept late, was ABLE to sleep late :) So I guess it works! My neck still hurts but my back feels MUCH better. I'm sooo glad to have finally gotten some sleep.
Now I can get back to work on the book! I've got some structural rearrangements I want to do but am asking the team about, Cassie, as each of you gets there. I'm checking the PDFs to see where you are :) Tricia and Paul have both already gotten through the two points. Waiting on you and Allan.

The violent storms passing through the area are on and off still but even waking up from thunder, lightning and driven rain pounding branches against the ceiling can't ruin a good night's sleep after not sleeping for 2 nights! Yay for Good Deeds! I really need to pay it forward somewhere.

p.s. Allan finished reading so you're the only one left Cassie! (hint hint hint *hahahaha*)
I have been SOOOO busy! Reading, reviewing, blogging, editing, proofreading, mommying, baseballing, remodeling, cleaning... The list goes on and on!
I just wanted to stop in and say "hi" to you all! I hope you still love me! LOL :-)
