I am going to graciously "bow out" of nominating a selection for April, because I know I wouldn't be participating much. :)
I will still chime in from time to time though, lol!

Julie, I hope you're enjoying your class! What are you studying? I've been out of school so long I'm not sure I'd be able to study anymore, lol!

Thanks for weighing in, Danie. Glad you finally got Science of Yoga. Feel free to discuss on that thread as you read, even though March is over.
I want to read Radio Shangri-la too; have heard good things about it. It seems, though, that most of our regulars are tied up this month, and I'm tied up in May, so it looks like our next group book will be in June. We'll be reading Rain Mitchell's new book, Head Over Heels, her followup to the novel Tales from a Yoga Studio. (You can jump into the second book without having read the first, I'm sure; or, since there's so much time, read the first one if you desire.) We'll do Radio Shangri-la sometime later.

Great, Kim! Until then, feel free to chat about or recommend any yoga-related books on our general yoga books thread.

Hi Everyone - I haven't been able to participate lately because of my yoga teacher training, but I would give a plug for Cope's book. I read it a short while ago and it's really fabulous.
I hope you are all well and continuing on your yogic paths! I was fortunate to meet Ilene briefly while I was at Kripalu, and had an amazing time during my first two weeks of intense training. (Relevant blog post here for the curious: An Experience of Trust and Surrender: http://bit.ly/IK6ziC)
I still want to read Science of Yoga but am now inspired to finally read the Gita -- Mitchell's translation is supposed to be good; I'll let you know what I think when I get more into it. :-)
Namaste,
Jen

Hi Kim:
June's book is Rain Mitchell's novel Head Over Heels. A light fun way to start summer. It's the second in the series that started with Tales From A Yoga Studio. You don't have to have read that one, but if you want to someone said it's heavily discounted at Amazon.
Hope you'll join us in June!

You already know what I'm going to suggest -- that we read The 11 Karmic Spaces by Ma Jaya, if not now, then later. I'd help you with the discussion.
Love, Swami Matagiri Jaya

I've been thinking about what book the group might enjoy for April. (I'll be away for part of May so I am thinking we'll skip that month--unless someone wants to lead a discussion that month--and then in June I thought we'd read the sequel to the novel Tales from the Yoga Studio, called Head Over Heels, which comes out in April--and which you should be able to read and follow even if you haven't read the first book.)
People made several suggestions on our list that I think could have broad interest, but all are kind of pricey. This includes the yoga history America Veda by Philip Goldberg (prices on Amazon US--$16 for hardcover, $14 for Kindle, but your library may carry), the memoir Radio Shangri-la (which got good reviews but isn't technically about yoga, instead tracing a woman's enlightenment from visiting Buthan; similar prices to American Veda); and Stephen Cope's the Wisdom of Yoga (not on Kindle: paperback $11).
What do you think? Do you want to read one of these, or skip both April and May?
