Anyone else out there get annoyed with highschool life books?

not all highschool books but this one i did'nt like it was borring i couldn't wait to put it down

There were parts of the book that did annoy me. For example, Valerie's prolonged grief. I understand why she experienced grief over the death of her boyfriend, but the author portrayed her as this very selfish, whiney, and depressed teenager who couldn't move on. Then when the book was in its last few chapters, it was as though the author had to quickly heal Valerie. I felt as though the last parts of Valerie's healing process were rushed.

Hmmm. I thought the idea of the main character having trouble moving on is representative of real teenagers. Having worked with them as a teacher, my students often brought up things from their past over and over. They seemed stuck in emotions and habits and then one day quickly and decisively move forward. In Valerie's case she was grieving her boyfriend and really her loss of innocence and trust in others. I liked that the book was deeper than some fluffy high school life books.

i liked the book, it was interesting and focused on a topic that most people try to avoid

This book really hit on so many thoughts, reactions and emotions that people go through in tough situations like this. I thought it was very meaningful and should be read by all high school and middle school students.

I likes how this book took place from the eye of the shooters girlfriend, but I didn't like how even her own family gave up on her that is just stupid in my eyes. Family is family and like they said threw out the book she didn't shoot any one. I also didn't see where the art teacher came in to play. She was just kin dove thrown in there. But it was a good book just some parts where annoying

Posting for a friend. She saw a young adult novel in the bookstore an dpicked it up. Unfortunately, she put it back down and now for the life of her cannot remember the title. She said it was similiar to Thirteen Reasons Why. What she remembers from reading the synopsis is that a student goes to a party and is raped. Later she comes back to get revenge on the ones that hurt her. That is all she remembers. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I thought it might be Speak but she said that was not it. Thanks!!

Honestly I found the book to be great. It really is hard to get over a death of someone you are close to and esecially someone you love even if they did do something horrible and this book really portrays that. I really think this book shows a different view on tragedies such as this. Actually I felt immense pain for the boy himself and Valerie because of the things they both went through. The Hate List showed me (which some people may not agree with) that sometimes the killers are just as much of victims as the ones killed.

I also liked it. I teach 7th graders and really think they should read it. The part I really had a problem with was her parents. Seriously she didn't do anything except fall in love with and relate to somebody that was mentally disturbed. The fact that she could see the good in him I felt was a positive.

I liked and disliked this book. I wanted to skip forward several times in the book when the story started to slow down and have really no points, or anything I couldn't live without reading. In fact I did skip forward, read a few pages, and then skip back knowing I wouldn't be able to say I actually read it.

I think this is something we hear about in the media, but we never hear about the story of the people who love them. We don't know what they go through, only what the tragic thing was, and how that person is then made into a villain. I think Val moved on after the grave visit. She realized that someone else loved Nick and that his memory wasn't just one of violence and suicide. I was a teenager once, and I remember a pretty tough loss that took me a while to get over. One day I wasn't over it, then before I even realized it, I was over it. I still think about it sometimes, but that is normal. That's why I liked it.
