Let's Just Face it.....writing is addicting discussion

I know I do! so one suggestion I have is just write constantly even if they are short stories, and eventually things will lengthen out, that happened with me, so any othe suggestions.

or problems with writing longer we could help with

What is the problem?

I can't write short stories. I can only write long ones.

Eh, don't worry. I'm not so good with long ones either. I mean, I prefer writing short shorts anyhow. Usually they have a lot more impact than something long, and people are more willing to read it because they only have to dedicate five or ten minutes to reading.

i like reading long books but short stories do pack a punch and I know eveything I write has some really deep hiden moral-even if i didnt mean it to, it justa lways happens

I'm now more of a long story writer. I can't write short anymore, it's just not possible. Essays and stuff for school ... six ... seven ... eight paragraphs, what's the problem? Everyone hears, "Five paragraph essay, due January 8th!" as they leave the room, groaning. Me? "Five paragraphs? That's it! I could write that in my sleep!"

Short writing just doesn't work for me anymore.

And then now I have the problem of starting sentences with 'and' and 'because' since I do that so often in my writing. And then short sentences! I'll write something like, "Tightly" for an effect, you know?, and I'll get points taken off for it being too short.

i only end up writing long stories cause i put in to much details and what i call back stories

I know! You tell them that you write like that all the time, and that Microsoft Word didn't have a problem with it, and they give you the, "You did not seriously just talk back to me, did you?" look.

My english teacher is just like that!!!!!!! and it bugs the heck out of me!

My 8th grade Literature teacher knew that I knew the material better than her, so she put me in charge of the class ocassionally! If they had a question the had to come and ask me, not her. It was awful.

nope, because none of them no quite yet that i absolutely love to write, except my creative writing teacher's getting the hint . . . she loved how I recreated the Goldilocks story.
I think I need to tell my english teacher though. I'm sick of relearning stuff I already know. like plot . . . etc.

I tend to write more short stories i have issues writing long stories. I can only write long stories when I have just the perfect idea and even then it takes FOREVER for me to finish.

I agree with Kenzie!!!!! It has happened before. I hate it. I know I am not gonna be a teacher. Lol

I am working on a chapter book. I haven't been able to work on it for a while....... It bugs me like heck!!!!!!!!! I know I am only 12 but I can't stand not writing!!!!! I got another idea, so I now have three. It is gonna be hard to write three books.............

When I write long I begin to run out of ideas..... can anyone help? :D

well you can take a break
or you could take your music player of choice lay down on your bed with a pen and peice of paper and if you get an idea from the music.
OR: talk about it in any writing group when you get stuck they can give seggestions or you could get an idea from one of there stories.

I love writing but its hard sometimes. And really annoying for me because I'm only 11 and our teacher just started teaching us about things that can help us write a couple of months ago, but I refuse to accept that I'm just learning and can't write nearly as well as any of you guys!

lol, i just learned that when you write a sentence with Dialogue, such as:
"Mary went to the ocean," said Frank.
That's how you do it.
But usually I do it like this!! My whole freaking story has sentences like this!!
"Mary went to the ocean." Said Frank.
GAH!!!

I know!!I learned that like two days ago!! Oh and before last week I never put in a new paragraph everytime I had diolouge unless i didn't put the person who was saying it!

lol, it used to bug me just to do dialogue, now it's like I can't write without it!!

I used to have the same issue. When I was like 6 or something I used to write a picture book series about two astronauts. I wrote three of those things without diolouge and i only wrote four!!

I have the same problem. I think of too long plots. Heck, I can't write anything less than a series.

i like writing in short periods of time like 300 or 400 hundred words every night

I can't seem to do series (yet) there's not enough for me to write about. When a story tells itself to me it HAS to be put in one book, I can't make it drag on just because I want a series.

not this year but in the past constantly!!!!! and this year in my science class....which is kinda weird b/c uisually its one of my worst subjects but this year its my best...

Well, science has a whole bunch of different branches, from physics to earth science to astronomy!

i love life science!!!! right now we are learning about genetics, and we're getting to that part........
anyways, it is really easy

Ugh, I despise science. But not really the material, just the teacher. XD
