Phil | 2 comments I have become obsessed with the Bloomsberries after reading the Hours. Here are some suggestions for upcoming books:
The Virginia Woolf Writers' Workshop: Seven Lessons to Inspire Great Writing by Danell Jones
This fanciful recreation puts Woolf at the head of a contemporary writing workshop -- giving writers suggestions on writing exercises and philosophy drawn from Woolf's writings.

In A Life of One's Own, Ilana Simons uses Woolf's writings as a guide to self knowledge and a fulfilled life (hmmm?)
A Life of One's Own: A Guide to Better Living Through the Work and Wisdom of Virginia Woolf by Ilana Simons

Lastly, Linda Lappin's stunning and exquisite historical fiction
Katherine's Wish

Katherine's Wish by Linda Lappin

deals with the final phase of Katherine Mansfield's life, and includes a beautiful portrait of the two women's friendship

Ivan Mitz: The Marmoset of Bloomsbury by Sigrid Nunez is a wonderful little novella - ignored I think because it came out the same year as The Hours by Michael Cunningham. I re-read this little jewel late last year and thoroughly enjoyed.

Also of interest was The White Garden: A Novel of Virginia Woolf by Stephanie Barron, which is a mystery novel, but is quite fun - especially for us who happen to be aquainted with Woolf and the Bloomsbury Group.

Bloomsbury Pie The Making of the Bloomsbury Boom by Regina Marler by Regina Marler? If you havn't, you really should - a delightful look into all things Bloomsbury and includes a nice bibliography for future reading. A treat. Bloomsbury Pie The Making of the Bloomsbury Boom by Regina Marler
