Alison (gleefulgirl) | 11 comments I have read the Hunger Games series and quite recently I watched the movie. It was excellent! It included alot of the important 'bits' but it did leave alot of little 'things' out but I suppose that's understandable considering the cost of adding the 'little things'. I'm not going to elaborate on the 'things' as I don't want to give anything away. The actors suited their roles in my opinion. The movie is quite long but The Hunger Games is a large novel. If you haven't read The Hunger Games yet, I suggest you do! It's full of action and adventure. It was a page-turner for me. The Hunger Game Series is the 'Next big thing!' (Pardon the pun) What do you think of it?

I wasn't at all impressed by the movie. I didn't like the actress who played Katniss at all. And I really liked the book (I've only read the first one so far). I'm really hesitant about the sequel (movie).

Cassandra (cassandraa) | 4 comments I was so excited when it came out in the big screens. The Hunger Games was just such a great novel.
To be honest though, throughout the whole ordeal of watching the movie, I could not stop comparing book and movie and becoming disappointed when some parts were left out or not done properly. But hey, that's showbiz!

I thoroughly enjoyed it though. The shaky-cam was probably the only downside. I felt a little nauseated during some scenes. I also thought that they played down the violence heaps down. The book was entirely more graphic!

I agree i was disappointed when they missed some parts that i thought were really important like with the mockingjay pin and seeing that they changed that part i know certain characters wont be in the other movies and i thought it was so important to note that her mom's friend went into the hunger games. Well like you say showbiz and i have yet to see a movie top a book.

Yeah they cut the violence, i guess its okay for us to read about it but not watch it.

Cathy Maldonado (cathymaldonado) I read the book and loved it. But they took alot out of the movie. I think they where little things they should have put in the movie that they left out.

Melissa | 1 comments I agree they took out some things, like they always do but did not bother me too much. I saw the movie right after reading the trilogy and I was still in the frenzy, in those first stages of falling in love when nothing can be wrong with it.
But there were so many additions that I thought made the movie that much richer. I loved that. Those details that were not a part of the book but gave depth and meaning to the world of Hunger Games, gave the "bad guys" a personality, a life story.

Ella (ellux) | 2 comments One of the times when watching the hype movie made me read the books. The idea was so catching that I just had to get in depth. I would say that watching the movie again after reading was kind of mistake - I started to see all the flaws and little things that are annoying you only when you have red the book. Still, can't wait to see the second part.

Kelhayes I got this series before it became "famous"...if I'm not mistaken, I got it for a penny each-hardcover-through a book club. I loved the books. I enjoyed the movie. I often don't watch movies that I read (or plan on reading) because I spend a LOT of time comparing the two. My favorite issue with the hype (begin sarcastic font now...)-apparently most parents don't pay attention to what their kids read because when these same parents took their "lil readers" to see it, they were appalled at the violence. I laughed, out loud and often, when I heard them complaining. That's YOUR responsibility, sunshine!
Super stoked to be part of this group!!!

Stephanie | 9 comments I discovered this series on a Kindle my husband borrowed from the library. I had never heard of it and knew nothing about it, I just saw all 3 books on there and though sure, why not, a new series. I was hooked from the first chapter. My husband says he saw more of the back of the Kindle than my face that week. When the movie was coming out I was excited, but didn't want to get my hopes up too much because the books were soooo good, they could easily screw up the movie. They didn't. I loved it. They left stuff out of course, but they can't make an 8 hour movie, and I think they got the most important parts. I like the actors they got, especially Haymitch, he was perfect. I'm very much looking forward to Catching Fire this fall!

Totally agree with the Mockingjay Pin portion. Slightly disappointed with the choice for Peeta. Thus far, best interpretation I have seen amongst other movies I have seen for various books. I catch myself re-reading the books prior to the movies...and then watching the movie again after reading the book.

Loved Cinna and loved Haymitch! I also cannot wait until Catching Fire, the trailer alone had me wanting more! [her watery eyes and quiet sobs as she is being raised up to the platform...WOW]
