Did you like the book?

Yes, it's a brilliant read! I loved the humour in it and think it stands up to the test of time (apart from the cassette tapes bit!).

Yes.. I enjoyed it , it's completely irreverent but full of amazingly diverse characters.

I've started reading "Good Omens" but I'm finding it difficult to get into the book! It's the first time I've read a book by either author. Not sure if it's for me but will keep reading to ind out!!

So what did you think in the end Brenda?

Well, I can't say I didn't try...I haven't really "got on" with Pratchett in the past and I'd hoped that the collaboration with Neil Gaiman (an author I really enjoy) might have produced a positive result but I think I may throw in the towel now. Mr Pratchett and Mr Tolkien are now deposited in my Room 101. Oh well, I'm probably in the minority!

I found it a struggle to finish the book but I hate starting a book and not finishing it. Don't think this is my type of book!

Like Brenda, I found it a struggle to finish and really hate leaving a book without knowing the ending. Strangely I did enjoy the story I just found the writing style a bit rough going for me. I'm not sure I can explain what was wrong with it but each time I put the book down I never felt the need to pick it up again like I do with books that I enjoy reading and cant wait to get back to and I think thats why it's taken me this long to read it.

The idea's behind the story were good but I never felt an affinity with any of the characters as it seemed to move from event to event without getting to know them and so none developed to make me care what happened to them, maybe this is why I had the trouble reading it?

I am glad I have read it but I'm not sure I'd try either author again, having read neither before. I'm not sure which has the style I dont like, maybe it's both of them, but I do know there are thousands of authors out there writing books I can and will enjoy reading, most of which I probably haven't come across yet either!

That is a very good way to think about it Kim! If you dont' like these authors there are plenty more in the world that you will probably love!

Do you think it might be the partnership that doesn't work for those who didnt like it? I've always wondered if two people writing means authors have to pass over the characters and therefore might not be as attached themselves. It's very interesting.

I have only read part of this so far, I haven't read Gaiman before, I've read Pratchett many years ago, but this is quite different to my usual reads. I've found some of it really funny and inventive so far, though as I say it's kind of outside my comfort zone, but it's good to try something very different now and then.
