Amanda (porterak) I always have a hard time deciding which book to read next. I want to read so many different books at once but I can't focus so I usually do this random grab off the shelf with out looking thing. I don't know if it is a good system for choosing a book. It has worked pretty good I think though. Now I will read a book that someone hands me pretty much as soon as they give/suggest it. And if it is some huge hit like recently the Hunger Games I will read that. But in general I always have a hard time deciding. This year will be different because I have challenges I set ahead of time to guide me on what book to read next.

So how do you choose a book?

Kristin I tend to read at least three books at once. I can zip through chick lit and christian romance in one day usually, so if I am reading one of those, then I try to challenge myself with a classic or something else appropriately higher level in thought processing. I have a book shelf dedicated to "to reads" that I have picked up at goodwill and ebay; I usually grab like three at a time and start each one. Then which ever one grabs my attention best is what I start with. Before I can do another grab off the shelf, I TRY to finish the others that I started....but every now and then I find a new book that I have to read immediately. :)

Simone (bookworm_babblings) | 6 comments I'm usually reading between 2 to 4 different genres at any time. So whatever is recommended by a friend or a bestseller that has caught my eye.

Stephanie Ann (stephanieann) I have trouble too. There are so many things that I want to read so I end up reading several at once. Right now I have one book that I have to reread sections of over and over because I read others in between but want to read more books so I finish others off and then go back to the more complex one. I have a way of making things difficult ... but I still enjoy it of course!

Amanda (porterak) Yeah there is always a way to make things more difficult and I tend to find that way all the time.

Kathy Gray | 2 comments I keep a shelf full of books to be read on hand, then when I am ready for a new book to read I look thru them till one catches my fancy. Sometimes its fantasy, sometimes its a murder mystery or whatever. On occasion I will have several books going at the same time. A lot of times I like to switch between types and authors to mix things up.
