Hunger Games Trilogy discussion

Okay so I just wanted to see who you guys thought could play Johanna Mason :))

She is like my FAVORITE character of the whole series!!!!!! Personally I think Naya Rivera would make a good Johanna. She looks exactly how I pictured her and she could totally play Johanna's personality right since she has to play a similiar role on Glee.

I don't get how Kristen Bell could play her...she seems too sweet to play her. Johanna has a lot of sass that I don't think Kristen could potray. Johanna is also a very deep character and seeing Kristen playing her just wouldn't feel right...I don't think I'd be able to connect as well with Johanna if she was playing her. She doesn't quite look like Johanna either :P

I LOVE this character too! Neither Naya nor Kristen seem perfect for Johanna to me. Naya to me is just...wrong somehow. She has a lot of attitude as Santana, but I think Johanna has deeper things going on that I don't know if Naya can really do. And I do wish they'd cast a natural brunette, so that leaves Kristen out (though if they do cast her, I wouldn't mind much).

I would love to see someone new play Johanna. Someone who's maybe done only TV show episodes or something. They could really discover someone and give them a career with this role. That would be cool. (Maybe me? Yeah, I wish!)

The more I htink about Summer Glau as Johanna, the more stoked I am. Check this out:

^I don't know...I LOVE Firefly, so Summer will always be River Tam to me. I wouldn't mind if she played Joanna, but I guess I just never saw Johanna as exotic-looking at all--just a brunette with brown eyes. I REALLY think someone new would be a good idea.

I absolutely love Kristen Belle (to anyone who says she cannot play a sassy character, they obviously have never seen Veronica Mars- Best Show Ever)
Quite like the look of Summer Glau, but I've never seen her in anything, so I'm just going on looks, not acting.

I kind of think Scarlet Johanson would make a great Johanna...she's gorgeous, but can pull off that tough-girl attitude. Also, Gwyneth Paltrow could be really awesome. Just throwing it out there.

She is definitely NOT too cute or sweet for Johanna--just watch Veronica Mars or Heroes. People thought Johanna was all weak and defenseless at first anyways. Either her or Summer Glau would do it for me. Mila Kunis would be awesome too, but she's already really famous.

Okay after watching that clip I really want Kristen Bell, things like this always turn out better when fans are involved in the production of it. Also in Veronica Mars she always fakes being weak to get what she wants and that is exactly where Johanna got her sucess from. She's perfect!

...Kristen Bell could pull it off, I suppose, but Naya Rivera I think is better suited for the character. But then again, Summer Glau does look almost exactly how I pictured johanna...

I agree. I've always loved michelle tratchenburg, but she still doesn't fit the role for me. What about kristen Ritter?? She would look the part to me if she lightened her hair color a little...

I'd have to go back to the books to see exactly which Games Johanna won to know how old she'd be in Catching Fire but since we know she won by convincing the other Tributes that she was this young frightened girl, I always pictured her as someone older--maybe mid-20s in Catching Fire--but who looked a lot younger and used that to her advantage.

None of the actresses we've mentioned so far here seem EXACTLY perfect to me--though Bell or Glau would be fine--so I still say someone new could be the best choice.

^Yep, I heard that news. That's cool with me. I still would have preferred someone new but NOT the other girl they were auditioning. She looks WAY too exotic to play Johanna. And too young. I think Jena has a lot of talent so this could be great.

Lionsgatepublicity.com so far only has Philip Seymour Hoffman listed as having been cast as Plutarch Heavensbee. It doesn't have any other casting news for catching fire, so I think between that and imdb's lack of reliability, we can safely assume they haven't made a final decision yet and that we're just hearing rumors.

both Summer glau and Kirsten bell look like how I pictured her, but I'm not sure Kirsten could really match her personality....
