I don't know if anyone else has read anything in the series but I find it a very high quality series on the whole. And perfect for the target audience. And if you haven't read the first one (which is retitled as The Revenge of the Witch in the US) then I recommend you do so.

Nicolle I'm pretty sure that this series is set near to where I live. Near Pendle hill which is where there used to be witches (or at least people killed as people thought they were witches).

Yes I think The County featured in the book would be set near there then because it features the Pendle witches. I really like how the witches in the series are not your typical witches but rather evil and the conflict from using 'dark magic' and whether any good can come from that.

Melissa (jedisakora) | 1 comments I've read a few of this books so far. I have to say i'm 26 and i loved them, but fear they might be too scary for younger reads. They're making a movie(s) of them though. Steven Spielberg is directing. The one big difference they seem to be making is having Tom be "much" older. They guy who played Prince Caspian is playing his part and he's older than me.

I think they may be a little scary for anyone younger than fourteen. And Spielberg is the perfect choice for director. He's great at adapting novels. I think they want to make the movie darker and more adult though...

Nicolle :O Sounds like great films. Do you think they are filming over here?

I believe so - and I hope they do make a good film. Spielberg is set to direct so he is a good book to film adaptor.

I have read that they have written old Gregory as a Knight, who has had Mother Malkin imprisoned for centuries. That's not making me want to see this so far.
