What romance books have you read that had particularly good suspense/action/adventure elements that had you on the edge of your seat, or yelling/cheering at the book when you read it?

I finished The Trapper yesterday and this book definitely did it for me. Lots of adventure, both in surviving the elements and with human conflict.

Jill Anything by Shannon Mckenna!!That lady has my heart in my chest, and the romance is lovely. I mean the men are alphas and but they protect there woman.
I am also really getting into Kristen Ashley at the moment. In the middle of Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2) by Kristen Ashley ,ahhhh love tate and I really want to know who the serial killer is.
Nora Roberts is also a big author for me in the Romance suspense department.
I do feel though that I have only recently gotten into this genre so I am looking forward to everybody elses favourites so I can have a look see :)

Paganalexandria | 354 comments Okay dumb question alert. What books are considered romantic suspense. I didn't think this sub-genre is for until discovering motorcycle clubs which are suspenseful. Are they like that or like Sandra Brown/Nora Roberts? I am looking to branch out.

message 6: by PepperP0t (new)

PepperP0t they can be either. sometimes the motorcycle club can be contemporary romance.

if you're looking for romantic suspense I'd recommend Pamela Clare's I-team series I also enjoyed Cindy Gerard's Black Ops
Extreme Exposure (I-Team, #1) by Pamela Clare Show No Mercy (Black Ops, #1) by Cindy Gerard but there are so many others to choose from not just Sandra & Nora

I found this definition when googling it.

http://suite101.com/a/defining-romant...

Romantic suspense combines the romance novel's character emphasis and the mystery novel's plot development with the positive ending that is expected in both genres.

Bestselling novelists Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, Julie Garwood and Lisa Gardner have something in common. They all write in the increasingly popular category of romantic suspense. As its name reveals, romantic suspense combines a love story with a suspenseful plot. Romantic suspense novels have the advantage of appealing to romance and mystery fans alike, thus increasing their marketing potential.

Kate | 56 comments Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. The following series were great.

Linda Howard - CIA Series
Anne Stuart - Ice Series
Pamela Clare - I-Team Series
Shannon McKenna - McCloud's and Friends

While these next series have a paranormal element I think they could also fit in with romantic suspense as well. They certainly have the action, a bit of suspense and definitely lots of romance.

Karen Marie Moning - Highlander Series
Kresley Cole - Immortals After Dark
Gena Showalter Lords of the Underworld

Right now my favorite RS book series are Ice by Anne Stuart, I-Team by Pamela Clare, McCloud and Friends by Shannon McKenna.

I think they all three do really well with combining romance and bonafide suspense and danger.

message 11: by Geraldine (new)

Geraldine Mc | 2 comments I have to recommend Fire and Fangs (Blood and Flames, #1) by Josephine McNabb The suspense in this book had me gripped. I could not put it down. I had to find out who was making attempts on Damon's life and why. I was right there with Keri and her (working) relationship with Damon and I really wanted Danni to kick Greg to the kerb. It was a brilliant read and I'm looking forward to book 2!

Sönïa Dhillion | 20 comments Right horrorscape by nenia Campbell is a thrilling, suspence when you read the description you may think nah its gonna be 3 star. But believe me it 6star book i could never guess what was happening how in deep the story was gonna go. Its not your whole csi cop action but it has a fear factor, what's gonna happen next anxiety, WTF

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments Sandra Brown's Lethal, Envy, and Smoke Screen are probably my favorite RS novels. The unabridged audiobooks are narrated by actor Victor Slezak, who could make a reading of the newspaper an erotic experience.

ℸℎℯrℯᏕα (wwg1wga) | 10 comments Victoria Paige's The Guardian Series Fire and Ice (Guardians, #1) by Victoria Paige and her most recent book It's Always Been You (Always #1) by Victoria Paige

Susan Fanetti's Signal bend series Move the Sun (Signal Bend, #1) by Susan Fanetti

Joanna Wylde's Reapers MC series Reaper's Property (Reapers MC, #1) by Joanna Wylde

Susan, I loved Lethal. Definitely a Coburn fan! I need to pull Envy off my shelf and read it soon.

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments Danielle, have you read Smoke Screen? Hero could be a cousin of Coburn's. Yum.

Susan (the other Susan) (theothersusan) | 259 comments OMG, was I about to let a romantic suspense thread go by without mentioning Anne Stuart's Ice series?
